Rather than review these individually, I’m choosing to review them collectively. These stories all dealt with love and loss, in various forms, and in some instances, finding oneself after the death of a loved one, or learning to move on in those circumstances. Truthfully, 7/8 stories for me felt like they fell into the trope of girl falls in love with boy/or, girl loses her twin brother and falls in love with his best friend, giving herself all sorts of angst in between.
Example; in one of these stories, we have a character who believes her one true love is tragically killed in a terror attack. Okay, sad, very sad, and at first I felt for her, but then when she unexpectedly meets a new boy in a library, and feelings start to happen, great, she deserves to move on, sure, and of course you’re bound to feel heartache for them, but when she constantly clearly hasn’t allowed herself to move on, still saying yes when new boy proposes, yet still constantly thinking of her lost love? And when the unexpected happens, the new boy is so understanding and only sings praises to the girl? Look, I feel like that’s just unrealistic.
I’m not a prude by any means, but some of these stories had some sex filler too, like, boy and girl fantasizing about one another, both often hot and hungry for one another, and, well, let’s just say I found these sex scenes, in the majority of this anthology, to be anticlimactic, at best.
I feel like the stories at times didn’t really flow either, although there was one story that I liked where a little girl brings happiness into her father’s life, Sammy, who was so precious, and Jeanine, who was at times relatable, with her cat Bella, were pretty much my favourite things about this anthology.
That’s not to say that you, dear reader, won’t like this. I feel like I know there’s a scope of readers that will enjoy this anthology, I however, am not one of them.

I was really looking forward to reading this anthology, there a couple of authors in it who I love and some new to me authors too so I was excited to read work by new people! I wasn’t disappointed at all with the stories in this anthology – they were all amazing reads. All brought out so many emotions in me as a reader and I don’t think I could pick a favourite out of them. They all had wonderful characters and storylines and it really is well worth a read and it also for charity too which makes it even more special. Each story took on a different aspect of dealing with relationships with people who serve for their country, there were times of loss, grief, emotional moments, moving on after loss and more but the thing that struck me throughout everything was that each author wrote the stories in such a beautiful and positive way. I really cannot recommend this anthology enough, not only are you getting 8 wonderful stories but helping a very worthy cause too.

Branches in Healing: Tales of Unsung Heroes
By Autumn Sand and others
Rated 5 stars

All of these authors (and the list is impressive) did a wonderful job sending me through different scenarios. This is a series of short stories that all deal with the aftermath of war. It’s about their healing and whatever it takes for them to feel better. Whether they are a service man or woman or the family/spouse left behind. Sometimes it takes understanding, forgiveness of self and love to recover from these tragedies.
This book covers many many stories that are different but yet the same. These authors did a good job of writing stories built around one tragic accident. Some of these stories....OMG! I had tears, I was shocked and I laughed a few times. They were all good...and some of these characters?...Phew! They blew my mind!

My one suggestion to the reader would be to make sure you read the Info after the title of the book is given. Most of them are background info or a prelude of the story and Since they are short stories a little background helps to eliminate confusion.

For everyone who has had a loved one leave and your not sure they will make it back. Or if they do they feel incomplete for loss of brotherhood, limb or self....This book is for you.

Eight authors bring us amazing short stories about military men and women. The stories behind each of them have to do with loss, heartbreak and just plain finding a way to live again. Each one have great characters that are connectable and their stories will pull you in. The emotional roller coaster ride they each took me on will not soon be forgotten. Each story touched my heart and I highly recommend this book.

Branches of Healing is an anthology of stories by eight accomplished authors; whose works here include stories about people serving in the armed forces, and their loved ones. These stories touched me, made me feel, at times made me smile- but most of all they engaged me from the beginning right through till the end.

The Anthology includes:
-Finding Us by Autumn Sand.
-Aftermath by Amy Allen.
-Broken in Battle by Ava Lyn Wood.
-Without You by Bella Emy.
-Saving Grace by J.L Leslie.
-The Last Letter Home by Lorah Jaiyn.
-Soldier On, Moving Forward by Natalia Schellhaas.
-Oscar Mike by Verlene Landon.

The stories are all original and unique to the author, but all focus on the same theme. They touch on everything from overwhelming loss, Injury or separation, reuniting/second chances, tragedy, sibling bonds, friendship, tension, chemistry, learning to love again, and overcoming adversity.
I am familiar with a few of the authors, whose work I have read before and have loved, but most were new to me. For a book worm like me, this was exciting, as I am always on the lookout to find more great authors whose works I can follow- and I am happy to have found quite a few with this collection. I really recommend this anthology, you won’t regret the investment. I was pleasantly surprised by this collection of stories. There was not one story is this anthology that I didn’t like. They were all wonderful and really well written. Dive right in, but be prepared to be swept into a journey that traverses shattering loss and devastation; as well as heart-warming and moving tales full of triumph and love.
The proceeds of this novella will go to Healing Paws for Warriors!!!

Thank you to all the contributing authors.

Branches of Healing: Tales of Unsung Heroes

Reading all 8 of these stories was awesome, I enjoyed every one of them and even though I wish a few had been a bit longer that is just because I enjoyed them so much!

A few of these authors are already on my one click list, what I loved was being introduced to a few new authors that I can look into more and see what they have available.

Each story stood by itself but they all had at least one thing in common, experiences from time served in the armed services. It was full of hope, second chances, sadness, bravery and each story touched my heart.

I highly highly recommend reading this anthology and absolutely love that all proceeds go to Healing Paws for Warriors!

Awesome!!

Branches of Healing: Tales of Unsung Heroes Charity Anthology is a compilation of short romance stories, written by several authors, that involve people who have been affected by loss of their loved ones who were/are military people. Each tale is heartbreaking but also heartwarming. Tissues will be a main staple whilst reading this collection. The characters are swoon worthy but also amazing. They have had to deal with loss and pain and try to find themselves again and find that the love of a person can bring them back to life. I love military stories and the heroes and heroines that put their lives on the line, they amaze me as did this compilation.

This was such a great anthology. Many great stories for any genre you like, its in here!
These are short stories so each one is read quickly, and each revolves around one attack at a summit.
The characters in all books were very well developed and relatable. And you could feel the love, the pain, the longing.
I highly recommend this anthology you won't be disappointed!

Branches of Healing is a heartbreaking yet sweet compilation of stories about Men and Women serving on the armed forces. It is a collection of tales of bravery, tragedy, camaraderie, sacrifice, loss, healing. It touches on the effects that conflict has on soldiers and their families.

This collection of stories really touched my heart. I reflected on all that these servicemen and women have sacrificed for their countries, so we as citizens can live a peaceful and happy life, with freedom and the feeling of safety. They risk their lives on a daily basis, and for their dedication to keeping our country safe, I thank them. Each and every author has me totally in awe. These stories are heartfelt and beautifully written. I really was captivated with these stories and recommend this to any lover of a fabulous story. 5 stars.

Overall a fantastic anthology. It showcases loss, love, drama, and everything else that goes with military branches. Each story was beautifully written.

Finding Us by Autumn Sand: 5/5

Autumn always has a way of writing the hard romances. Her story finds us watching an ex couple reunite. Lem is the head of the First Daughter's security detail and Ella-the First Daughter- happens to be his ex.

As readers follow their story, it is heart-wrenching and beautiful how Autumn weaves together past and present. Plus she never shies away from some action and panic inducing scenarios!

Aftermath by Amy Allen: 3/5

This one follows an immortal couple as they deal with pregnancy and deployment. Though a cute story, I will admit that I had more questions about their immortality than I'd like. It ended up taking away from the story. Plus there were characters that were connected to them in odd ways.

Broken in Battle by Ava Lynn Wood: 5/5

In this novella, readers follow Laramie as she deals with the loss of her twin brother after they were both deployed. Their long-time friend and fellow military brother hopes to bring her back to life.

This one was heart-breakingly beautiful. I felt it depicted different aspects of loss very well and also showed how love can be healing. Plus cutesy and sexy love scenes make my heart melt.

Without You by Bella Emy: 4/5

Ohhhhh this one. Readers follow Hailey as she corresponds with her then deployed boyfriend and first love. Then years pass without a word from Luke, and she moves on with her life.

This one went in a different direction than I thought it would in the end. Hailey's grieving process is different, seeing as she never got any official news that her man was killed. It was just assumed. So we watch as she picks her life back up after years of pining.

I won't spoil the end, but it was beautifully tragic and wonderful.

Saving Grace by J.L. Leslie: 5/5

Another story about siblings and the grief caused by one of their deaths.

This one follows Grace as she comes to terms with her brother Will's passing. They were both in a bombing, and she blames herself since her brother was visiting her. This one hit close to home because it dealt with a small hometown.

Though I haven't lost any siblings (knock on wood y'all!), I can instantly understand how Grace feels going home to a place with so many memories. But hey, love is around the corner if she's willing to give it a chance.

The Last Letter Home by Lorah Jaiyn: 5/5

Another cute and sad story. Lynsey is a single mom of two who lost her husband. She blames the Air Force for his death and wants nothing to do with a military man again. Master Sergeant Owen is a man who unexpectedly falls for this woman that would hate him for his military background.

The way these characters connected with one another was cute. Plus who doesn't love a heartwarming love story?

Soldier On, Moving Forward by Natalia Schellhaas: 5/5

Jeanine lost her brother right after talking to him and hearing he was coming home permanently. As she adjusts to her grief, she finds a young girl and her father who help bring her back to her old self.

CUTE AND HEARTWARMING!! Seriously, this was one of the most human versions of grief and love I read in this anthology. The couple are almost like teenagers and add a sly nine year old to the mix... instant awesomeness.

Oscar Mike by Verlene Landon: 4/5

Probably the steamiest and most out of the box novella in this collection. Cassie, Jeff, and Rob were friends that all ended up in the military. Cassie and Jeff became a couple, causing Rob to distance himself. With Jeff's death, the other two begin to rekindle their friendship.

This novella touches on so many themes of sexuality, grief, love, and more. It was a surprisingly wonderful story that I couldn't stop reading.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this anthology in exchange for an honest review
