This could have been an email. Not the best for audio book because it was really 101 numbered lists so I heard a lot of numbers and forgot what the topics were. Also very repetitive. Perhaps 1 or 2 essays.

While 101 is a really marketable number, I felt that there was an excessive amount of repetition throughout this book. The number of essays could have been cut in half and I wouldn’t be any the wiser.
This book doesn’t not translate well into audio. If given the choice, I would read a physical copy over listening to it so that I could select what order I read the essays in, so please keep that in mind if you decide to pick this up.
On a positive note, I found a majority of this work humbling and thought-provoking, which seems fitting as a book meant to change the way you think.
Out of the 101 essays, 5 of them really stuck out to me on a personal level:
Essay 2: The Psychology of Daily Routine
Essay 40: Why Logical People Lead Better Lives in a Generation Where Passion is at a Premium
Essay 64: The Most Taboo Thing in Our Culture is Radical Honesty—And That’s Exactly the Problem
Essay 71: 18 Little Reminders for Anyone Who Feels Like They Don’t Know What They’re Doing with Their Life
Essay 91: The 15 Most Common Types of Distracted Thinking
If you want to really evaluate the way our society thinks and are looking for ways to improve your own thought patterns, I highly recommend giving this a chance.

this was overall cliche and most of the advice is only applicable to a certain subset of already privileged individuals, but it did have some interesting and helpful tidbits here and there. but also to be fair, i listened to this on audiobook and was zoning out 50% of the time…

Not really essays…just a ‘Think Positive and Everything Will Be Ok’ to do list that gets sort of repetitive and kind of comes across as a bit glib at times.
Contradictory, asinine listicle-style “essays” left me reeling and unable to finish.

Was not impressed. As many other reviews state, it should be retitled as “list essays” about inspiring life ideas. Most of the essays are more bullet point lists. The concepts can be intriguing but fall flat and are contradictionary (for example, it is mentioned on multiple occasions not to catastrophize, but then also recommended to “think through worst case scenarios”). It also assumes the reader is a very certain type of privileged probably white person in their 20s.
There are a few good nuggets but overall one has to extract them from a lot of repetitive and hypocritical superficiality that makes grandiose statements as if they are Truth.
