Amazing
I loved this short story. The kindle in motion is awesome. I loved the interactive pages and beautiful pictures. I really hope Picoult develops this story into a book. Picoult can do no wrong by me.

My first Picoult book. And also my first Kindle in Motion book. This was really confusing. If it was longer, I might’ve enjoyed it, but it was just too short for me to really get into. I might still try one of her longer novels still. I did enjoy the Kindle in Motion aspect of the story and will definitely read more.
This short story was just ok for me. There were two parts to the story, what happened in the past and what was happening in the now. I don't know if the present situation was real or only in the character's mind. That part was a little confusing for me. I'd rate this book 2 stars, but I bumped it up to 3 for its cool in-motion effects.
This short story is a little more out there than most of Jodi Picoult's other work, but the voice that makes her such a fantastic author is definitely still there. I enjoyed the unreliable narrator and the little clues strewn throughout to make you question the main character's reality.
Dealing with another delicate subject I feel like this would have made a great novel. It just isn't a great short story. It wasn't long enough for me to connect to any of the characters, the premise was a little too outlandish to be fully explored in so few pages and you don't get the most satisfying part of a Picoult novel; the satisfaction of the single tug on a knot you've been struggling with that unravels the entire thing.
Jodi's books without fail make you question the beliefs and values you hold dear, and really put you in someone else's shoes. Maybe I've been spoiled, but I wanted that moment I always get with her books, where I suddenly sit back and think "Holy shit she did it to me again.", and I just didn't get it this time around.

Picoult is my fav author but this was just disappointing :(
I like short stories.
I like Jodi Picoult.
I like Jodi Picoult's short stories and novellas... in addition to her novels.
The Kindle in Motion concept was interesting (once read on my iPad, not an eReader) albeit unnecessary but the entire story was a waste of the ten minutes it took me to read it.
I have no idea if Hope is insane, the pool thing was a metaphor or wtf is going on with how it abruptly ended. A story so short should not be so confusing. I can't be arsed with that shit, even in a novella. Just give me a fucking story, Jodi ffs.
I'm so irritated that I don't even feel like being generous and giving an extra star because as a general rule I do love Picoult's prose.

What I Did Like:
-This is a Kindle in Motion, which I hadn’t heard of before this morning. Basically that means it’s an ebook produced by Amazon that has moving images and pictures inside the book (if you read it on the right device). GORGEOUS. Very cool concept.
-I’m intrigued. I know how Picoult works, normally. The characters in her novellas often end up in other things later. These are usually little screen tests for her, ways to play around with character. For that reason ALONE I’m totally intrigued by this entire idea. I hope Hope comes back because I have questions only a full length novel will answer.
Who Should Read This One:
-If you have Kindle Unlimited, give this one a try! It’s a great opportunity to check out that gorgeous Kindle in Motion idea for FREE. Otherwise, it’ll cost you $2.99 to read for about 15-30 minutes, so be cautious.
My Rating: 2 Stars. Look, I like this concept but I’m not sure it was worth the cost which makes it a little problematic.
