This one was definitely angsty. A little too much drama for me, especially Olivia’s flip flopping. But still an enjoyable read.

Cheating is always a sensitive and problematic topic obvs, and I knew what I was getting into reading this book, but there are still ways to make a story more bearable and I feel like this book didn't do it at least for me.... the fact that she forgave him so easily was likee NO!
And although in the end everything worked out for them and the story showed SOME healing between the two and with a happy enDING, I ended up with a bitter taste in my mouth, so no 1.5 ⭐️

3.5

Yuck i hate cheating trope, i couldnt even enjoy the smut scenes because of the mmc’s cheating, its ok olivia, i will hold the grudge for both of us.

Bro how are both mmc and his friend VILLIANISING olivia for having depression holy shit and basically blaming her for HIS CHEATING

This is fucked

The circumstances around his cheating and indirectly applying olivia is also at fault for their marriage breaking apart is fucked, like bro you are the one who stuck ur dick in someone else.

I gave this a 3 star for the anger and sadness i felt for Olivia, i think she should have just moved on with someone else.

some books should not have a happy ending

Oh boy, this is probably the longest review I’ve ever written but here we go…
What a goddamn mess, I don't even know where to begin. Bennet is a terrible man and a horrible husband, I can't even put into words how much I absolutely hated him he was the worst.

Bennet and Olivia have been together for nearly 8 years they got married after a whirlwind romance of about 7 months and as the book says "couldn't keep their hands off each other" They decided to start actively trying for children, but due to complications (the book doesn't really explain what could have been causing it) Olivia goes through 2 horrific miscarriages during this time and she falls into a deep depression after the loss of their 2nd baby. She's withdrawn, grieving the loss of their children, she doesn't talk to him or seek solace in him, she says later on that during that time she felt "unsexy" and "unworthy" to be his wife, suffice to say she's going through it and it broke my heart hearing the way she talked about herself.
Bennet is also grieving of course however says he wasn't able to properly grieve because he was so focused on helping Olivia with Olivia pulling away during her depression he felt very alone in the marriage and one night he goes to a bar and you guessed it cheats on her. That night before he left for the bar I kid you not he told her to "snap out of this" referring to her depression and silence.
"You have to snap out of this. I've had enough, Olivia. I need my wife back. I know it's been a rocky few months- hell year, but if we're going to get through this, I need you with me. I need you to fight with me. For us."

Listen I can understand and empathize with him feeling alone, especially after something as massive as this but it hadn't even been 2 months after the 2nd miscarriage and Olivia's depression began that he's pretty much given up how can you claim to "love" someone so much and not see that they're clearly struggling physically and mentally and as their life partner not have the patience to wait and allow them to grieve on their own time and in their own way? you have forever isn't that the whole point of a marriage being together forever? I just could not seem to fathom Bennet's rush, and then to claim she isn't "fighting for their marriage" is so insulting DUDE she's depressed she was experiencing extreme trauma sorry she can't exactly prioritize your feelings right now my goodness.

We gotta get back to the cheating because it only gets worse from here- that same night a few hours later he returns sobbing his eyes out and confesses to Olivia what he's done almost immediately. The book I feel made it seem like we should practically congratulate him for not keeping it a secret (the bar is in hell I'm afraid) Olivia rightfully so, is pissed and surprise! (are we really? No.) and falls into an even deeper depression she kicks him out and files for divorce soon after. Now the main story picks up about 6 months after all of this has taken place, and come to find out they have been separated during that entire time finalizing their divorce but then Bennet gets into a car accident where he loses his memory from the past 2 years INCLUDING the 6 months where the infidelity took place, so he has no recollection that he cheated on Oliva, no recollection that she's had 2 miscarriages and oh how could I forget? that after Olivia kicked him out and filed for divorce he WENT BACK A PERSUED A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE WOMAN HE CHEATED ON HER WITH THAT NIGHT OMFG I WISH I WAS LYING, what ensues next the rest of the book is Bennet pretty much not taking any accountability for his actions because he has no memory of his past actions and feels as though he’s being punished for something he can't remember doing. What a weak fracking argument I can't believe I read this book. He comes to stay with Olivia in an effort to get his memory back by surrounding himself with familiarity, literally a week later they've reconciled. And are sleeping together again, Olivia had a “boyfriend” more like a rebound who called her out on this bull (albeit a little harshly), but it needed to be said and she BROKE UP WITH HIM, I haven't even scratched the surface so much more happens but this review is already long enough not to mention my fingers are starting to cramp just please do yourself a favor and do not read this book. I’ll even spare you and not get into how horrific the writing was.

Sorry pero no. Not my thing. Todos los personajes son insoportables

I’ve seen Q.B Tyler’s books going around bookstagram. This book was full of angst and so heartbreaking to read at times and it was exactly what I needed.
This book had a bit of forced proximity which I absolutely loved. I usually hate cheating in books but the way it was handled in this book and dealt with between these characters was perfect. Even though Bennett did wrong, I had hopes that he would get Olivia back. I was happy that this was dealt with properly, rather than glossed over. I was so invested in this book and relationship. I think marriage in trouble trope has become a favourite of mine.

TRASH TRASH. THROW THE WHOLE MAN IN THE TRASH.

I'm not rating this because I went into it believing I probably wouldn't like it. So it just seems unfair to rate it. I believe cheating is unforgiveable. I would never, ever forgive cheating in my own relationships. So I was wondering if this book could convince me there is a case where cheating can be forgiven.

Spoiler: it did not. It just reminded me that cheaters are the worst and I hate them.

Like wtf was this book? The husband, the husband's mom, the husband's best friend are all like oMG but hE'S sorRY for WhaT hE diD. YoU'rE Not INNocEnt In ALl tHIs. Like the woman is depressed bc she's had two miscarriages. Yes, she's not handling it well. Yes, the "hero" tries to help her. Yes, she refuses to go to therapy. Yes, she does nothing to help herself. I get it. Truly, I'd believe the hero was justified in leaving her over this. She's going through a depression, which is understandable, but she's doing NOTHING to try to help herself, and the hero has to suffer alone. All of this understandable. I will say she has blame in the marriage falling apart. But... idk I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, *EVER* say it's partially her fault that he cheated. HE chose to cheat. That was all him, and she will NEVER have blame in that.

So I'm like, "Okay, he'll at least grovel, he'll find ways to win her back, he'll remind her of how they fell in love in the first place, he'll show that he's trustworthy again. Okay, *maybe* I can buy it."

BUT NO. THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENS. He has to live with her again, and she just thinks he's so fucking sexy that she cannot stop herself from mauling him. Like this man CHEATED on her, but every time he's in the room, she's like a horny fucking teenager and is like, "He walks out of the room and I can see his collarbone and damn he's so sexy, my pussy is so wet already." Like I'm not slut shaming her at all. It's GREAT that you think your husband is hot and sexy and sex is important in a relationship, but it was literally THE ONLY THING IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP. We do not get ANY glimpses as to why she might be interested in him other than being sexy.

He then also does NOTHING to make up for what he did or to gain her trust back. NOTHING. In fact, after he cheated on her, he then CONTINUED TO SLEEP WITH THE OTHER WOMAN. Supposedly it was only twice, but somehow she was close to his mom and also the people in his apartment building knew who she was? But it was only twice? Like clearly he was spending a lot of time with her. But we're supposed to think that's okay because he was "miserable" and still wore his wedding rings and missed her the whole time. WHAT THE FUCK.

After he's back, he just acts like a cocky asshole, winking at her and being like, "Oh baby you know you want me." Rather than groveling and begging for forgiveness and trying to figure out ways to show he's sorry. No, he just acts like a cocky POS but since he's "sex on a stick" it's all fine.

Then, instead of earning her trust back, HE DOES THE OPPOSITE AND FUCKING BETRAYS HER TRUST. He gets his memory back and then DOESN'T FUCKING TELL HER. So instead of REBUILDING trust, he ACTIVELY SHOWS HER THAT SHE CAN'T FUCKING TRUST HIM. She finds out, reasonably decides they shouldn't rekindle. But then... SHE GOES BACK TO HIM. AFTER HE'S DONE NOTHING TO PROVE HE'S SORRY, NOTHING TO PROVE HE DESERVES IT, NOTHING TO EARN FORGIVENESS. She's just like, "Yeah I remember the good times and the sex is really good so let's get back together."

WHAT?? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK????

Oh, and don't forget, they get their HEA with babies and the book literally ends with them having sex bc the only thing in their relationship is sex.
