Gostei bastante!

I don't have any evidence of this, but in my mind at least, Newbery winners are usually historical fiction. And even though I have been proved wrong again and again, my first instinct when I hear about historical fiction is "Boring!" So I'm not always super excited about the Newbery. But my first instinct when I hear fantasy is pretty much, "Huzzah! And well met!" Basically, I was very excited when I found out that this book won. And it's really, really good. Child me would have been entranced, and adult me loved it. I never say this, but I would also love a prequel (prequels are lame, as a rule. I don't care about your origin story, Darth Vader!). I want to know more about Glerk, and Fyrian, and Xan. But I'm totally happy knowing what I know. I'm also looking forward to rereading this someday, because I know I missed a lot of stuff.

This has been one of my favorite books since I was a child. I love Barnhill’s writing style and how the story come together like a puzzle. The magical elements have the perfect amount of whimsy and all the characters are well thought out! :)

I don’t re-read a lot of books, but this is one of those rare ones for me.

I also own both the ebook and the audiobook.

I listen to even less books than I read them, myself….honestly, because I can read so much faster than listening, obviously, but it almost always sounds better in my own head.

The ebook is wonderful, but the audiobook - the audiobook, you guys - is absolutely magical.

I am kind of a snob about audiobook narrators. If they annoy me, listening to the book is an instant no.

The narrator of this one (Christina Moore) does such a bang-up job - I don’t even have words that will help you understand how amazing she is!

She really brings the characters to life, and gives them extra qualities that make you fall even deeper in love with them!

If you have the opportunity to listen rather than read, definitely jump on that chance for this one, friends!
