Oh my sweet innocent child... if you think Brit Benson put you through the wringer in book 1, I have news for you...
It's been years since the last events in book 1 and Lennon now goes by Capri, lives in Paris and is a budding artist. She hasn't been back home often and she's fairly sure she's somewhat managed to get over Macon. When tragedy brings her back to town, she knows she will have to see him sooner or later.
Macon has changed his life, turned it around, and he never ever managed to purge Lennon from his blood. When she comes back, he knows he'll have to face her and tell her a few things she never knew. What neither of them knows was that their lives were forever changed by events they had no control over and never knew were happening. Their love was toxic, incendiary... but the truth has a way of washing everything murky or dark. All they need to do is face it.
OMG, what a ride! I pressed play on this audiobook and never stopped. What a wonderfully crafted second chance romance! Lidia Dornet and J.F. Harding reprise their roles as Lennon and Macon and they take you on a ride of angst and pain, regret and longing and they do a wonderful job!
There's so much love, devotion and hurt in this story and you understand how things were set in motion to keep these two apart. The secondary characters are pivotal in this and I really really need Brit to write Claire's book! Like, seriously!
Phew! What a ride! Love it! Thanks, @mustloveaudio for the gift!
Content notes (may be spoilerish): graphic depictions of self harm, addiction, serious/life threatening illness, physical injury, loss of pregnancy, addiction relapse, toxic relationship with a family member

his life. The next life. Every life after that. I will love you in all of them, Lennon Capri. It doesn’t matter who you become or how you change. My soul will always belong to yours.”

Five stars to Jf Harding and Lidia Dornet they made this audio book shine with their performances, And J was the perfect Macon.

Can I just say a man that doesn't touch another woman after he loses the love of his life? Isn't done enough, this man waits four years and probably would have kept on being celebate living his life had Trent ( Lennon' s) father hadn't ended up in the ICU. If he never saw her again, he would have lived his life alone.

The way that Claire will have to live her whole life knowing how sabotaging her best friend's love with her brother.
How she hurt BOTH of them.
Can we get a little karma for her please?
There was pining on both sides, And it was work that Macon had to do to win Lennon back.
There was work that Lennon had to do to get him to believe he wasn't abandoned.
Why ? Because of the horrible people who wanted to think they knew best .

β€œI’m an addict, Astraea. I don’t know how to do anything small. I feel intensely. I want intensely. I crave intensely. For me, if it’s not a healthy obsession, it’s not love.”
There’s that word again. Love.

β€œBecause I was homesick for
you. Because the only decision I’ve ever made in this life that I’m sure of
was being selfish for you.”

There’s so much damage between us. So many secrets and broken
promises. I should tell her we can wait. I should reassure her and prove to
her I’m a better man now.
But in moments like this, I’m not sure I am.
I’m always going to be an addict, and she’s always going to be my
greatest temptation. The only addiction worth ruining myself for.

We had to be apart before we could be stronger together.

She’s still my Lennon. I’m still her Macon. We’re at
our truest when we’re together.

This book was just the finest duet I have ever read. I cried, I laughed with the characters, and I hugged my pillow at the end , because the love that was written in these pages was beautifully broken, and deserving of a movie. I will never stop thinking about these characters.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½
Couple: Macon & Lennon

β€œUnforgiving. Difficult to master. You don’t want easy. You don’t want to erase your mistakes. You want to build on them and transform them into something beautiful. You’ve never wanted fine, Lennon. You want watercolors.”

I feel like I've been washed, dried, and ironed out at this point. The fact that one single person, who I will not name, changed the outcome of these individuals lives, ugh I'm not okay. Did it in the end produce growth and change, yes, but damn did it have to hurt so bad. Beautifully written, heart breaking and mending words. I loved Macon and Lennon so much and they both paid and fought for the happily ever after they so deserved. Soulmates will always find there way back to each other.

I'm rating this entire duet 4 stars! ⭐
I'm not going to say I had a fun time reading this, cause I was so so so angry the entire time I was reading it. It made me so sad, so tired, so exhausted, so angsty.... I just felt too much
But that is exactly what I expected from it.
I have never read a book duo faster than this. As soon as I finished book 1 at 1 AM I started book 2 and finished that one equally fast as well
I was so intrigued by Lennon and Mason's stories. Individually and together. Their stories were woven together so beautifully.
I cried with them, I cried for them, and after a certain point I wanted to throw my ipad against the wall.
But in the end, it all ties together and I was so so so happy for them.
I always know I can Logan's recommendations and this one didn't disappoint AT ALL.
Also, the redeeming arc for Sam was soooo fucking good and I cannot wait to read her book (maybe in a few weeks, cause I need a break from this pain and headaches).
(P.S : It did give me an actual migraine from all the pain it caused πŸ™‚)
I have also heard people rave about the audiobooks and how they're sooo nice so I would recommend listening to the audiobooks maybe if you want to get into these books, and love audiobooks.
