3.5 stars, which is not to say it wasn't enjoyable because it really was. But it didn't shock and surprise me per se.
Then again, I enjoy the horror genre and not because I find it scary. ^_^

Weaving tales of horrors of this world and the other and the abrupt lost of innocence, all told by such a memorable narrator, King's 2021 novel Later is proof that the master storyteller still isn't done writing unforgettable pieces of work. It was fun from start to finish, but also sad and scary. The scare factor was amped a bit because I wasn't expecting it at all. And it's much more straightforward than most of his novels I've read—much more akin to his short stories. This is now my new favorite King novel. I might add something else. Now, my mind is still muddled and trying not to whistle.

The description in words of how I felt while ready the book is tense. But it mostly felt like tension for Jamie, that you just want some resolve for him. He is put into these situations that other people put him in and you
feel that he's a good kid.
Pacing was really fast for me and I felt like nice evenly spaced chunks; early development, save the world from evil, evil tries to take its revenge. Being a shorter novel,
there wasn't much time for dragged out details. We still had the character development, however. Because its shorter I would put this at a mix of plot and character driven. We learn
enough about Jamie to see how he grows with his ability and as a person. We also
experience what is happen to him through those experiences. I think that if Jamie had had different characteristics, it wouldn't have been the same story. The characters were great between Jamie,
the Mom, and Liz, you can imagine and/or identify with them. Mom, You can imagine that she just wants what's best for her family and if people think Jamie's crazy the he won't
have a normal life. She goes and does everything she can even risking exposing Jamie's abilities.

Good audiobook but felt like only a snippet of a larger story
Enjoyed the characters and the Sixth Sense premise but, as with most Stephen King books, I find myself wishing he would stop at the mildly creepy, the uncanny and the unexplainable. When he goes for the Big Bad Scare, I lose interest. Ambiguity is much more unsettling, IMO, than

demons and deadlights.
Stephen King is such a wonderful writer. The plot was fluid and climax was intriguing. Loved it. Loved every page.

This is my first King novel! For the first 100 pages, I was kinda bored. It is an easy and quick read that I recommend if you’re looking for a tame but creepy ghost story! I will say that it became very fast paced toward the end and I’m very happy I read it. But I’m confused…
Jamie, the protagonist, writes a beautiful first person encounter that he repeatedly insists is a horror story.
But it’s not? If you zoom into the left upper hand corner, you will see it was published under “hard case crime” embossed on the cover!
I guess if you have to say it’s horror, then you’re over compensating? And maybe that is King’s point?
I will say that if you’re looking for a creepy story by Stephen King but are a beginner to the horror genre, this is a great book! I’m squeamish and this was an easy read for me!
TW: murder, suicide, haunting, descriptions of dead bodies, child kidnapping.
