small town romances will always be a hit or miss and this one was a hit!

august and sophie were so cute and their banter was so adorable. i will say that i wasn’t as connected to their characters as much as i did with foolish hearts. that book definitely takes the cake and is my fav of emma mills’s books!

this did start a little slow but it definitely got better. the mini plot twists were so fun and kept me intrigued!!

their friend group was so cute and i loved it so much. britt is…she wasn’t my fav. i thought she would be similar to iris in foolish hearts and she was but i couldn’t connect to her character as much as i did with iris. britt made me really annoyed and i actually didn’t like her for a few chapters. she was really mean to soph at times and her character overall kinda upset me. she was great towards the end tho!

This was a book I simply did not want to end. Right before getting to the end, I went back to all my favourite scenes just because I wanted to relive them again. EMMA MILLS IS ONE OF THE BEST.

Sophie as a protagonist cares SO MUCH, and I admire that about her (in much the same way that Brit does). The moments with August were total perfection, especially Gave Me Your Heartland Week, "lying," and all the sweet moments they had together.

I was legitimately shocked by three different plot twists — two pertaining to siblings of our TZ2 crew, and one pertaining to Megan. Most of all, I love that everything worked out in a somewhat realistic way (i.e. not every dream coming true; getting the ends without the expected means... if that makes sense).

This book made me laugh out loud and cry. Overall, it is the SWEETEST story of friendship (Teen Zone 2! The Cutlass! Where would you spend eternity?), and I just want to spend more time with this wonderful crew.

Sophie and august, both cuties. This book was cute. I thought it was going to be super amazing because it got so many good reviews, but it was just a very cute story about friendship and growing up in a small town.

There were surprisingly a few layers to Sophie and the story in general that I actually didn’t see coming.

The friend group was super funny. The banter with everyone and Sophie and august was also clever! I truly enjoyed the dialogue!

However, the romantic relationship with Sophie and August kinda fell slightly flat for me. I was waiting and waiting for this big moment, and august kinda just acted a little stupid in some parts.

He didn’t want to be a “burden” and didn’t want to get attached to people, sooo he kinda acted weird towards Sophie at times.

They kissed and then he literally left her in the room ... and left the house when he said he’d be right back. He kept trying to play it cool smh.

They also randomly through in the mom bit. She should’ve either not mentioned it or went into more detail about his past. It was all very surface level.

This really turned around towards the end of the story. It kind of dragged in the beginning, but in the last quarter of the book, I rushed through it because I just needed to find out what happened and it kept me totally engaged.
