I found this book very interesting. I read a lot and I have never come across a premise like this before. Some parts were predictable but didn't take away from the overall storyline.

WOW, that cover is STUNNING! Not to mention how AMAZING the synopsis sounds! I'm in LOVE and the book hasn't even hit the shelves yet! GAH I want this so bad!!! Victoria Schwab is an amazing genius!

I enjoyed the story, and it was an interesting world. The teenaged heroine is dealing with loss on multiple fronts - deaths of her beloved younger brother and grandfather, a friendship that has become more distant (literally) after her move, and disconnection from her not-so-healthily-grieving parents. And all her current relationships are made more awkward and difficult by the secrecy inherent in her profession as well as her extraordinary sensitivity to touch. To that mix, the author adds mystery/intrigue and thriller elements, as well as certain romantic complications.

Somewhat of a dull read. I didn’t particularly like the writing style. The world created was uninteresting to me.

Immediate thoughts after finishing this book: PGJDSFGLJDSFLGJ! OMIGOSH. MY LIFE IS FREKING OVER!

More like a 4.5 rating. Kept me hooked to the last page. I actually turned the last page thinking there was more and was upset to find the acknowledgements page instead.

The characters are always so full of life in Schwab's books.

Mackenzie read as a very mature fifteen year old but given her history - ahem - I think this is believable. There were moments when she showed a youthfulness which added to her personality.

The story itself was beautiful and wonderfully presented. It feels like these ideas come so easily from Schwab and are written in such a way that you don't question this new idea of life and of doorways to The Narrows.

I would have enjoyed it if it had been longer and more in depth with some of the other characters but regardless, it was perfect as it was anyway.

Me ha gustado mucho, tanto la trama como los personajes. No sé muy bien de qué irá el segundo libro, porque con este parece que está todo bastante cerrado, pero tengo ganas de ponerme con él en breve.

Brilliant!! This book is peculiarly brilliant!! and it's beautifully written too!

A serious must read for every bookworm out there!
