dark mysterious tense medium-paced

This was recommended by my sister, Becca. Thirteen Storeys was such a refreshing way to write a horror/thriller novel. Multiple interconnected short stories of residents residing in one building. Throughout half the book I was kind of lost, as fitting for a mystery book. But the closer you got to the ending, it all started coming together.

Audiobook: Highly recommend the audiobook! They did a fantastic job with multiple narrators. For fans of BG3, Theo Solomon (Wyll), is one of the narrators.

This story did something incredibly bold by keeping track of and telling 13 different stories in a good way. My only complaints were it all felt like too much to keep up with. There were stories I got lost in as being scary, but the less scary chapters were so painful to get through. Still easily one of my favorite authors, but I recommend you read "Family Business" instead

mysterious slow-paced

At first I thought it was 13 individual stories, which was fine. But it was actually loosely connected - which I could appreciate the subtle overlaps amongst some of the people. That being said, I do not remember every detail from the first story, so when all of the characters are in the same room at the climax - I forget half of the cast. Also, for a book that reveals a major plot point at the beginning, every story seemed to drag on to get to that point. It was so slow, and relatively tame until the end of chapters but mostly the end of the book. Really felt like a long wait for a reveal that needed not such…

For my personal reference.

This was so incredibly boring. I didn't care about anything that was happening, and the actual explanation was lackluster as hell.
