What a beautiful powerful story that just sneaks up on you and completely rips you to shreds. I loved every page of this book.

I fell in love with Zachariah in Bittersweet and Steadfast, so I was anxious to get to his story. He was such an enigma, and his upbringing fascinated me from the start (having previously read Goodbye Paradise and Hello Forever, I already had some inkling to it. They’re is really no connection between these books, except a mention- but worth the read!). The way Zach was drawn toward Lark and was able to help her was admirable. And Lark drew Zach out of his shell, and helped him to find who he was.

I look forward to more from this crew in the next book!

**Update** I have also listened to the audio for Keepsake and it was wonderful! I love Teddy Hamilton's voice!!

More of a slice-of-life romantic novel than a romance in some senses (
Spoilera large portion of the latter part of the book is the heroine getting much-needed psychiatric help in Boston while the hero waits for her up in Vermont
) but given that the slice of life is of a working orchard and cidery in Vermont and the characters are all wonderful and well-drawn, I had no complaints. I appreciated that the heroine's trauma felt "real" without being stereotypical or ridiculously violent, and also that it wasn't aggressively hidden from the reader - by the time the heroine discusses it with others, the reader already has a pretty good idea of what it was. I hate it when books make violent trauma the "mystery" of the plot and a driver to keep you reading - I'm here for the romance, not the details of the awful backstory. I really liked both hero and heroine, although I kind of wished there were more of the hero's journey towards the end - it really turned into the heroine's book at that point.

Lark and Zach have become my favourite characters from the series so far.

I adored their journey not just together but separately and it's very prominent that Lark needs to work on herself before she can let herself be fully loved by Zach and he completely understands that. His character is so accepting and understanding which is surprising with the background he's escaped from and Lark needs that after all the turmoil she's ensued which caused her to take leave from work.

Sarina has written such a good take on a guy virgin and I loved how it was dealt with. There was still the humour that Sarina is so good at and heart warming moments. Seeing all the family together again always warms my heart and makes me want to stay in this world forever.

4.5 swoony stars. How can you not love Zach. Lark is a great female character who is strong but needs love and support.

Keepsake is the third book in Sarina Bowen's True North series. In this book we are taken back to Shipley farms for Zach and Lark's story. This story has a lot of trigger warnings, please check those if you need them.

We have met Zach in the previous two books. Zach is basically part of the Shipley family. He has been working there for two years after escaping his polygamist cult family four years ago. He still has a lot he hasn't experienced, but is learning to try new things in his life. Lark is almost the opposite of Zach. She comes from a life of privilege and has travelled around the world. She is May Shipley's best friend and arrives at the farm after her work in Guatemala with a non-profit went terribly wrong. She is at the farm to recover from the experience.

Zach is seriously one of the nicest, kindest guys ever. He is so caring and what starts out as a friendship, develops into something more. The only problem is, Lark is still dealing with the demons of her experience and feels so broken and unable to be loved. Eventually Lark needs to face what happened to her, and she needs to take care of herself, to be a better person for everyone. This is such a beautiful story about love and patience.

One of my favourite parts of the book was watching these two experience life, heal and grow. This was a solid, enjoyable read, which I expect from Sarina Bowen.
