Pretty simple story, but fun nonetheless! Made Aquaman accessible to someone like me, who isn't that familiar with the character. Also does a good job at being aware of the perception of Aquaman being a joke, by having the people in the world of the comic not take him seriously. Geoff Johns is becoming more of a favorite (really enjoyed the first two New 52 volumes of Green Lantern) and the artwork is just beautiful to look at. Will definitely be checking out the next couple of volumes.

Man. This ain't the pansy-ass, blonde-haired fish guy everyone makes him out to be. The New 52's Aquaman is a brutal force, and his enemies (here a dying race of fish from The Trench) are even worse.

This is a constantly entertaining and gorgeously drawn book.

I read this at the library, this book is a great way to say "Aquaman you suck so bad no one likes you" but you see a man with a past and opens up so many questions that shows in the upcoming volume and in Justice League book. The pacing was fast but the art is not consistent, Geoff Johns did an incredible job in bringing in a new Aquaman without making it too emo, also some part explains how his powers work and his armor gives him near invulnerability, (it's not an orange shirt but an armored scale), this made me interested to read his future adventures.

My second Aquaman book and I’m wondering why he’s so different in the JL books I’ve read. Maybe because those were written by Morrison.

This was a good book but the small town assholes brought me down. Arthur and Mera have to deal with a lot of prejudice both from the surface dwellers and the citizens of Atlantis. Seeing their day to day issues was rough but I hope it gets better from here.

I am a big fan of the Aquaman movie, (specifically of Mera, she is the most kickarse superhero) it was so great to read the origin comic. Geoff Johns certainly met his goal of making Auaman cool.

More than that though, hats off to Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, this volume is absolutely *stunning* I was blown away with the gorgeous illustrations. I basically spent the whole time I read it stopping reading it just the show the person on the couch next to me another pretty illustration.

Loved the whole thing, possibly my favourite of the Heroes & Villians collection so far, either this one or Harley's debut.

A bit too self-deprecating for my taste but as my first ever introduction to Aquaman, I enjoyed it and I'm interested in getting to know him more.

I wouldn't have normally picked up Aquaman, seeing as how few take him seriously, he wasn't that interesting in the first New 52 volume of Justice League, and my closest association in my brain is the Entourage arc.

Then the story disarms us immediately with Aquaman not being taken seriously in his own universe.

Right away, the attitude changed for me. Knowing that I was coming on board with something different here laid the groundwork for what actually ended up being a really interesting story with a character I knew little about, but saw receive a significant amount of justification for existence. We get to see a lot of who Aquaman is, what he can do (and, perhaps more importantly, what he can't and doesn't do), and get a good pile of mysteries to move forward with as well.

It's probably closer to a 4.5, but I really had a lot of fun with this one. In the off chance you've been on the fence, it's worth giving a shot.

Aquaman is called to respond when humanoid fish-dudes start attacking people. These humanoid fish-dudes aren't like other fish and don't respond as such to his usual commands. HE IS ON THE CASE TO FIND OUT WHY ALONGSIDE THE MERMAID-BUT-NOT LADY, AQUA-WOMAN. Or Mera. Whatever her name is.

Not sure why I liked this one so much. I wasn't a big fan of Aquaman before. The writers seemed to pick up on this trend of the fish-guy being cast to the wayside and referenced it a few times in the story. I wouldn't say there's a joke on every page as some of the reviews state, but there were moments and I stayed engaged to the end despite knowing nothing about the guy beforehand.
