One of the best entries in the current krakoa era X-Men. Nightcrawler is truly the heart of the mutant population, weaponless zsen is one of my new favorite characters. On its surface seems like law and order krakoa, but actually brings up issues of spirituality and faith and morality which is definitely needed in this current story arc. Content warning sexy times are had!

as someone who hadn’t read a lot of whatever the hell this series is following, the opening of this run is a LOT to take in and it sort of dampened the impact of the story because of that. however, the art in this book is simply gorgeous, featuring my favorite nightcrawler design to date, and the writing is really solid! despite how dense the world is, i think i got the hang of it in time, and it’s absolutely a good read :^)

This book continues from Spurrier’s Way of X. It’s dense as hell, but it juggles several story lines pretty effectively. Spurrier does a great job pulling in characters and ideas from Ewing’s X-Men Red. Spurrier’s obsession with characters who have thick accents gets a little tiring, but he makes a justification for each one’s inclusion. I was somewhat annoyed by the seemingly arbitrary accent Mother Righteous has the first time I read this, but, as we will come to learn, it’s pretty crucial to her character.

This was fine. I like Nightcrawler and Legion, but this wasn't lighting the world on fire for me.

“There are idealist who make the world better, Kurt… and there are pragmatists who make it less awful. It is kinder to the former that they know nothing of the latter.”

It’s a wild book, featuring a slew of newer Arakki characters, Legion and his new “Altar” on the shores of the Astral Plane, with Nightcrawler and his Legion of X trying to figure out what justice looks like in a world with only three laws. I like it more than X-Force but less than Immortal or Red.
