When I thought this series couldn’t get any better WHATTT. This barely ever happens but I could not put this down. I basically read for like 8 hours straight it’s insanity. I was so invested Aren and Lara have my heart so I’m upset we didn’t get more of them after the battle and now the other books aren’t focused on them 😭😭 This felt more plot heavy and I ate it up, from rescuing Aven to their journey through the desert to reuniting with Jor and their eventual battle at Gamire. I can’t believe it’s over. The final scene at Eranhal ATEEE Lana was a boss and it was very stressful seeing her almost drown. In those moments seeing everybody begin to forgive her 😭. I feel like I could read about them forever so I’m excited to see them in The Inadequate Heir. Her sisters too?!? I loved seeing them stand up for Lara and the camaraderie they all had. They felt way closer than I expected but I loved it.

Always ending a chapter/book with another cliffhanger! Lara the little cockroach is able to survive through crazy adventures but I like that there’s no gaping potholes where her injuries mysteriously disappear. And somehow we found a way for her and Aren to be together again in a way I didn’t think of or predict. thank god

The second book of a series just hits differently. It was much better than the first although I almost burned the book to the ground because of some of the choice decisions the author made. A LOT of sh!$ went down at the end and it felt a bit rushed. There was no time to savor it all. Fine, she reads the next book.
