Wish I could say that in a new year I read a new book. But, looks like it isn’t the case. For some reasons or another, I suddenly decided to re-read [b:Black and Green|25448932|Black and Green (The Ghost Bird, #11)|C.L. Stone|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1496993814s/25448932.jpg|45213648], and now, I just can’t wait for the sequel [b:Love's Cruel Redemption|25448939|Love's Cruel Redemption (The Ghost Bird, #12)|C.L. Stone|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|45213654] to come out, especially after that preview. Speaking of which, it really has been almost a year since [b:Black and Green|25448932|Black and Green (The Ghost Bird, #11)|C.L. Stone|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1496993814s/25448932.jpg|45213648] came out. So, the sequel should be coming out soon, hopefully.

This book is a little different from the rest of the series. First off, it was told in double perspectives – both from the eyes of Sang and Dr. Green – which was really interesting to read about. Especially since we don’t really get to see from the boy’s perspectives that often. Second, Sang doesn’t really get to spend that much time with the boys in this book. Yes, there are still the occasional conversations,
Spoilerbut mostly, Sang is under lock down by her new step-mom (as in her dad’s mistress, who is quite demanding)
. Third, there is definitely a lot more kissing in this book than all the others combined, which I guess is because that the plan is now out, and it is no longer a secret. However, they still can’t really do it openly as sometimes it is hard for some of the boys to witness it. Don’t get me wrong, they are ok with it, just that it is hard for them to see it. Though it is wonderful to see that Kota didn’t reject the plan.

Overall, this book quite different from the other books, but still quite good. And for all that don’t know about it, this book is a Dr. Green book. And if my assumption is right, it looks like the next book is going to be a Nathan’s book. Enjoy.

P.S. This is a reverse haram romance series

It was amazing and frustrating. The beginning had me wanting to throw my phone across the room. However, the last 20% made me shout for joy and have to stop reading to just revel in the awesomeness of the resolution. If you were frustrated with the end of the last book it will make you love this book even more. CL Stone has not given us a book like this in awhile. I hope the next one comes swiftly and gives us even more insight. Please God no Volto.

Dear author,

if you make me wait a year once again for the next book I'm gonna die.

Love,
reader.

Ps: I really liked the change of point of views.

Before the drama: well written per usual with little to no grammatical errors! Now drama:

There's a lot of people upset over this book. This is a popular series and there was a lot of hype over it. The people who are upset expected something big to happen and the truth is....nothing big really happened. At least not in the BOOM kind of way.

However, what people don't seem to realize, or even think about, is that a filler book had to happen eventually. There was a lot going on in this series (the mention of how much stress she was under was a clue folks) and in order to move the plot along some loose ends needed tied up.

So while the book wasn't as eventful as the others, having some closure in some areas will allow the author to move forward without always having to dwell on the same BS. Seriously, 10 books worth of worrying over her family and now that's essentially done with. Now we can move on with her relationship goals, volto, and academy adventures. Having this filler has given the author opportunity to really move the story along to more important plot points.

Personally I'm glad it finally happened. I'm excited to see the next book where some good relationship drama will happen (if the teaser is anything to go by).

P.S. to those stuck on why Mr. B did respond to Sangs text when he always does....uh, duh, he didn't text because he rushed to her side instead.

.... I sometimes wonder if people actually READ...seriously.

I read through this one quickly and stayed up until 3 am reading it last night. It is amazing how well the characters are written. I couldn’t lay me finger on why I hate a character so much, but she is so well written that I despise her. I liked going to different perspectives in this book too instead of only seeing things through Sang’s eyes. It made the book very interesting.

Sang is being rushed back home from camp because her father is back in town at her house. She feels like she's going back to that scared girl again when the boys first found her. And she's going back into the house without protection, and she hasn't been feeling well lately. All the guys are worried and at odds with each other because they don't know how to deal with this situation.

But they must figure it out soon before something bad happens.

This book was pretty good. I didn't enjoy seeing Sang sort of revert to herself the way she was in the beginning of the series, but I did enjoy reading more of the guys point of views.
Also, I thought the story line was interesting, but I was a little bit annoyed with how Sang handled the situation.

I was really happy with what happened in the end of the book. I can't wait to find out what happens next for Sang and the guys. I thoroughly enjoyed the outcome, so I'm super excited for more.

Black and Green starts off with a bang! Camp has just wrapped up when Sang is summoned home. Her father has returned, along with his 'other' family. This is very bad for Sang. Carol, the new stepmother wants to move. The boys jump into action to figure out how to get Sang out of this mess and back with them for good!

The 'boy' focus in this book is Sean Green. He realizes he needs to step up his game with Sang to show her that he cares and wants her with him (and all of them!). But, his mother chooses this time to come for a visit. Sean has a complicated relationship with his mother; he never feels that he or his achievements are enough for her. Trying to please her is exhausting, and now he is worried about Sang as well.

Sean has always been one of my favorite boys. He is brilliant and a doctor, but when it comes to relationships, he is fairly inexperienced. Seeing the vulnerable side of him in Black and Green was so endearing. And, seeing his relationship with his mother progress was very sweet. Most of the boys have rough family experiences, so seeing Sean have a moment with his mom, whom he often finds exasperating, was delightful.

The story revolves around how the team is going to get Sang out of her house. Carol is determined to pull her out of school and move the whole family to Savannah. During all this, Sang's fainting spells are increasing. She needs rest, less stress, and better nutrition. However, she can't get any of that until she is away from her horrible family. While it takes the team some time to figure out a plan, when Sean and Owen finally stop quibbling they come up with a brilliant plan! I never saw that coming.

I adore the series so much that I just can't wait for each new book. Her having 9 love interests is tricky though because sometimes it felt like some of the boys weren't even in the book. I look forward to them working through all this as a team!

  • POV: 1st/3rd

  • Tears: no

  • Trope: secret organization

  • Triggers: none

  • Series/Standalone: series

  • Cliffhanger:
Spoilerno; Sang is out of her house for now but the future is still kind of fluid

  • HEA:
Spoilereveryone is fairly settled; they are all aware of the plan and have given their tentative agreement

Trying to Live with the Dead by BL Brunnemer, Finding my Pack by Lane Whitt, Finding Honor by Ripley Proserpina, Paper Princess by Erin Watt...then you will probably like Black and Green!
