This was my favourite book in the whole series. Genevieve is the new Duchess of Blakesley, a title she has just inherited. With her father keep her away from the castle and his life, she knows little to nothing about being a lady less a Duchess. So she turns to her godmother for help, she sends her Archibald Salisbury.
Arch is the son of a viscount who has come back from war as a hero but has not been accepted back by his family. He has taken up the role of teaching eve to become a good duchess. On their first meeting, they are both enthralled by each other.

Interesting premise, but the characters were essentially flat and I didn't get a good sense of the historical period at all. I don't think the daughter of a Duke would be without a governess and a personal maid. Made it to 30% before moving on to another book.

Such a unique book in the HR genre! I loved how the author's writing and the story is different from the usual ones!
Genevieve has inherited a duchy, and she has no idea on what to do to fit in with the society, especially due to the fact that she was raised in an estate, isolated from society and having the servants as her only comfort.
She's smart and clever, but doesn't know what to do to transform into a perfect duchess. It's not like there is a guidebook on it!
So she calls on her godmother for help, who sends in her steward- Archibald, the third son of a viscount and a war hero.
Archie didn't expect that Genevieve would be intelligent and beautiful and neither of them are prepared for the attraction that they feel towards each other!
I loved how their relationship developed slowly over time and it was so beautiful to see them fall in love.In the beginning when they first meet they're quite annoyed with each other, but then it turns into friendship and mutual respect.Genevieve was strong, intelligent and independent.
I loved the twist with the gender reversal. Usually in HR books, the females don't have the upper hand! The moment when she propositioned Archie was priceless!
I also loved the fact that the characters were willing to own up to their mistakes and tried to rectify them. They went a little back and forth with their decisions, but still there wasn't much angst or any reason for it, which I was thankful for!Unnecessary conflict just for the sake of it spoils the story.
If you love the HR genre but want something different to read, I urge you to give this one a try since there's no way you could not love it!

This is the third romance book I've read, and I really like how funny and playful this was, and overall, I thought it was enjoyable. I found the conflict to be tiresome, but I guess it can't be a romance novel unless the characters think they can't be together in some way and mention it anytime they can. A decent read if you like a good chuckle between sexy parts.

3-3.5 stars. This was decent. I loved the letters between Archie and Genevieve, and their interaction in general was pretty fun. I did get really annoyed at how often it had to be pointed out that Archie was super attractive. It was seriously like every single section from Genevieve's POV, there had to be at least one reference to how hot he was. At a certain point, it was like, we get it, he's hot, there has to be something else that's good about him that you could mention once in a while. I mean there was one point where she realizes that Miss Clarkson is her second adult friend, and then adds as an aside: "Although not as bewitchingly handsome as the first," referring of course to Archie, and it's likeā¦ why is this necessary??? She's talking about her relationship with Miss Clarkson, it literally has NOTHING to do with Archie, it's in the 15th chapter of a 31 chapter book so it's not like we're just being introduced to how she sees him (this is like the 15th instance of her remarking on how attractive he is at this point), it's just so unnecessary. And in the very next chapter, she meets with some other dude, and OF COURSE has to comment that, while he was good looking, he of course did not approach Archie's "splendor," but he was more approachable than Archie considering how "frighteningly attractive" Archie was. It was honestly beyond parody. I think maybe the purpose was to demonstrate how attracted to Archie Genevieve was?? But that's just a really lazy and clunky way of trying to accomplish that, and it really started bugging me as the story went on. Show me that she's attracted to him rather than just telling me how attractive she finds him every other page. Anyways, the relationship development happened a little too quickly for my tastes as well (I read a lot of reviews that said the romance in this was a slow burn, and ?????????? If the hero and heroine , IT'S NOT A SLOW BURN, at least not in my view), but I still enjoyed them overall.

LOVED this book, didn't quite have the emotional punch at the end that would take this to five stars for me. Such fun characters. Loved both Archie and Guinevere. Great twist on Pygmalion with the man taking on the role of the servant and the woman being the one to inherit the duchy. (According to the author, though rare, it can and has happened). What I think I loved most of all, was the man fell in the love and admitted it to himself first. Plus lots of great sexual tension between the two. You could just tell the two characters actually really liked one another, not just attracted. My fave MF book to date. :)
