Cute take on Pygmalion. I quite liked both main characters, and thought they were perfect for each other.

Not much plot, very low angst. Just a lot of internal brow-beating. Super-awkward almost public sex at the very end.

I really enjoy Megan Frampton's witty writing style and My Fair Duchess showcases that wit and charm in spades. If you like your historical romance with a hefty dose of humour, you wont go wrong with Frampton (fans of Tessa Dare and Lenora Bell should definitely check this one out).

My Fair Duchess pairs an unexpected heiress with her steward; a romance that seemingly can't go anywhere due to the class difference between Genevieve and Archie. I loved the class conflict element to the story, especially due to the fact that Frampton chose to turn this trope on its head by subverting common gender roles.
SpoilerI especially applaud the fact that Framption chose to have Genevieve offer Archie the role of "mistress" rather than marriage, something that you generally don't see in the class difference trope when it's the woman in the elevated social class. Frampton handled this beautifully.

As much as I enjoyed the romance and writing, I have to admit that the novel did feel a bit repetitive. Genevieve and Archie were well aware of their class difference and for most of the novel they were determined to avoid starting a relationship at all. For me, having this as the central tension of the novel made it feel somewhat repetitive because it this class consciousness is what drove the novel and Genevieve and Archie seemed to be going in circles with their feelings. This was still an enjoyable read, but one that was low on the external conflict scale, which I don't think is for every reader.

My Fair Duchess demonstrates once again the author as a master of wit and will appeal to readers who are looking for a lighter romance that is low on angst. I look forward to Frampton's next series, with Lady Be Bad.

The fifth book in the Dukes Behaving Badly series and oh my, what a delightful addition to the series it was! This was, in a lot of ways, the reverse of the previous book. This time, Genevieve is one of the very rare and most unexpected of the gentry: a duchess in her own right. And Archie is sent to be her temporary steward.

I think this, as with the other books in the series, developed the concept of partnership between the characters so nicely, the way they talked and relied on each other, and helped each other become so much more than they were. I loved the different dynamic between the characters, and the flip of the usual trope.

This had so much to delight in and enjoy, and like the others in the series, was a wonderful slow burn romance that brought on the emotional connection between the characters before the physical was fully explored.

The “mistake” was marvellously done and I enjoyed so much how they came back from it.

I wish there were more books in the series to read beyond one more novella. Give me more please!!

Loved! As always, I'm a sucker for retellings, so a My Fair Lady/Pygmalion where the Eliza character is a female "duke"? Yes, please!

Genevieve and Archie were wonderful characters, both separately and when together in a room and giving off enough sparks to light up every single one of the ducal properties that Genevieve inherited. I absolutely adored their letters back and forth, especially the parts they crossed outthought better of and even more especially the letters they didn't send...yet. Such an adorable idea!

The book titles that Genevieve kept coming up with to help her situation: How to Duchess Without Being a Dullard, How to Receive and Politely Decline Marriage Proposals from People You Don't Wish to Be Married To, and How to Trust That the Person You Love Loves You Back and Wants to Marry You After All, You Idiot were highly entertaining as well. Overall, there was as much to smile at in this book as things that made you want to break out the fan--a fun read from start to finish.

I would have liked to have seen Archie's (fingers crossed there really is one) reunion with his family at some point, but honestly, that's the only criticism I have for the story.

This is the fifth book in the Dukes Behaving Badly series (though of course in this instance it's a duchess who's not conforming to society at all times) but it worked just fine as a standalone. I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Ms Frampton's writing style, and am looking forward to whatever she writes next, in this series or another!

This was my favourite book in the whole series. Genevieve is the new Duchess of Blakesley, a title she has just inherited. With her father keep her away from the castle and his life, she knows little to nothing about being a lady less a Duchess. So she turns to her godmother for help, she sends her Archibald Salisbury.
Arch is the son of a viscount who has come back from war as a hero but has not been accepted back by his family. He has taken up the role of teaching eve to become a good duchess. On their first meeting, they are both enthralled by each other.
