I actually didn't know what this was about and had high expectations as it started off so fun describing eccentric Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and her upside-down house. But all the subsequent chapters are just about how she is asked to help with all sorts of behavior problems. At times the stories are funny but overall I found it didactic. I know...it's old ...but it got old for me. I wanted a zany story about a woman who has a spotted pony and leads the circus thru town and put a chandelier on her floor. I'm hoping Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's Magic might suit me better.*
* Scratch that...just read the summary. Looks like more of the same instead of Mrs PG having magic powers. Sigh.

When I was younger I loved the creativity behind the character of Miss. Piggle Wiggle. If I remember correctly, she lived in an upside down house. She always knew how to cure bad behavior and various elements. It was fun to see how she cured the various ailments.
i love this book and idk why i only remembered it now because hot damn was this hilarious. i’m glad some of those Insufferable Children learned their lesson bc i am Trash™️ for character growth. i gotta remind myself to find this at home.
side note: where the frick frack is my copy of the phantom tollbooth?? where the heck did they disappear to?

My five year-old really enjoyed this book. It was definitely outdated at parts but still a classic.

This is definitely an old book (published in 1947), and it shows a little bit. Parents spank their kids, that sort of thing with how times have changed. There's also a boy named Dick, and if any of my students knew about that slang term, it would not go well as a read aloud.
My husband says this was more of a parenting guide than a children's story. Haha! Basically each chapter has some kid who has some behavior issue, and they go to Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle for advice. Whether that be a child who doesn't put stuff away, eats too small of bites, won't take a bath, etc. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle has some eccentric ways of doing things, but her methods always work.
Kind of a silly book. My oldest liked it (age 8) and might continue to read the rest on his own. Not sure I have a desire to keep reading the series with my other kids.

Reading these again with my 6yo; I read them when I was her age. They are cute but super dated, as the behavior and parenting and family dynamics are all 1950s. There are some problematic race slanders and body image comments. We will keep reading the rest but then it’s the waste bin for them
