This book was a dark, compulsive read that once started, couldn’t be put down. I found the points of view to be irritating, as it was in third person but repeatedly changed perspective, giving too much insight into irrelevant characters thoughts and feelings. I also found the language to be less than authentic. With that being said, it was a captivating and dark story. You know from page one that something terrible will happen, and readers are on the edge of their seats waiting for that other shoe to drop.

An enjoyable and accessible read, although I would categorise it more as a character study than a thriller alone. It felt as though every scene could be unpicked, dissected and discussed with a deeper meaning, and was a great metaphor for the concerns of classicism and misogyny
