Grabbed me from the first few sentences. Loved the book but the ending was just so-so.
I had already watched the movie version and loved the story concept, but not the actors and their portrayals. I read that the book was better, so I wanted to give it a try. It’s so much better! Some of the language was absolutely beautiful, and the characters are more developed which really elevates the story.
I found this incredibly boring and by the time the climatic ending was, what felt to me, rushed through, I just didn't really care and was glad it was all over and I could move on to something else.
This book reminded me a lot of Lovely Bones. It was an interesting story, but somewhere along the way I became lost as to when the characters thoughts/feelings started to shift to where they were at the end. Also, not a big fan of the end.
This book is immediately gripping, and is written in a style that is almost poetic at times. It is told from the perspective of three narrators, each of whom is more self-aware than I think most people actually are; however, rather than making the book unbelievable, I think this introspection simply adds fascinating layers to the reader’s understanding of the actions that take place in Reservation Road.
The story focuses primarily on two fathers: one, whose son is killed in a hit-and-run car accident, and the other, who actually performs the hit-and-run. Over the course of the story, we watch each man struggle with his grief (obviously very different types of grief, but both are depressed and tormented just the same).
I did feel a bit like I was slogging through the middle of the book, but the beginning and ending are page-turners, and make it difficult to break away from the story. The culmination is well-worth reading through the vaguely repetitive and slow middle section. Overall, a well-written novel with thoughtfully created characters.

Life is too short to be this bored; abandoned at page 98.
