While I don't read the escort trope too often in romance books, I was intrigued by Josh's story and how he became an exclusive escort to James as he travels around the world for his business. Josh has dreams beyond being an escort, but the money he makes is nothing to laugh at. When he meets James he seems him as another high-paying client, but the more they travel together and get to know each other, everything changes for the two of them. I liked how strong Josh was, going after his goals, but the chemistry between him and James sparks off the page. There's dual POV's, sometimes in the same chapter, which is a bit jarring, but the overall story is developed well and the characters are wonderful.

Can I count a book I dnfed at 83% read???????

I don't care. I just want to rant rn.

Y'all, it wasn't even the cheating aspect between these two characters, (yeah it was with each other, but people in reviews called it cheating, I..... Would but also wouldn't.) it wasn't even the writing that yeah could've used editing and the weird but I liked it anyway pov.

It was CONFLICT that was the MOST, HOLY FUCK I CANT BELIEVE I JUST PUNCHED MY THIGH, I WANT TO CRY OF FRUSTRATION and I SCREAMED TO MY FUCKING PILLOW-TWICE!!!! kind of conflict that had my roots fucking FALLING!

If you know, you fucking know. JAMIE DESERVED BETTER!!!!!!! Josh was the fucking escort, JAMIE1 PAYS FOR HIM! Josh should've been the ONE to reach out FIRST! the one who should've SPOKEN FIRST FOR HIS FEELINGS!!! And when Jamie realized he couldn't keep it all fake and escorty anymore, OFC HE WOULD WITHDREW!! OFC HE WOULD BACK OUT!!!! And Josh was here, ALL FUCKIN ALMIGHTY saying "you don't fucking respect me" and IM LIKE: GO FALL OUT A FUCKING BUILDING AND DIE ON A PILE OF ROCKS!!!

RESPECT????! YOU DONT DESERVE IT!!! how dare you!!!!!!!!!!! How DARW do u demand respect when YOU COULDN'T EVEN GIVE IT BACK?????? ofc Jamie thought he didn't mean anything to you, cus you guys engaged in SEX AND HE PAYS FOR SEX!!!!!!!!!!! Did you FALL WHEN YOU WERE BORN TO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT SIMPLE CONCEPT?????!!!!!!!!

Especially when Jamie had done NOTHING but be worthy of everything GOOD in this fucking world and ONE ACTION! one mistake, and he's the scum of the fucking world??????!!! Holy fuck, GO STICK ROCKS IN YOUR ASS, YOU STUCK UP DOUCHEBAG!

*sigh*

Honestly y'all, I don't mean to offend any feminists here, but man. Do you ever look at your own gender, and wonder: HOLY FUCK, WHY DO YOU SUCK?!

This is the first publication from this author, and you would never know it. I’m really impressed that Evelyn has achieved what I see as a 5 star read right from the start. You might look at the premise, storyline’s that have been done a lot in romance (billionaire/escort), and think it may be a bit cliched. Absolutely not. There is a freshness about this that’s surprising.

It’s everything you want from romantic/erotic fiction. There’s a great vibe between the MCs immediately, sultry & enticing. There’s a good cohesive storyline. There’s no “insta-love”, but they’re both portrayed as kind & caring people interested in the other feeling good, despite it being a business transaction initially. It’s easy/lazy to write insta-love with hot sex, but harder to write care & respect between characters that has meaning & impact.

There’s high steam early in but it isn’t gratuitous or without context to the story, and super-sexy times continue throughout the story (the dirty talk is off-the-Richter HOT!) There’s some angst that really hits you in the feels. And there’s a HEA that wraps things up beautifully. You know you’ve read something special when the book hangs around for days in your head, and the characters linger in your heart. This is one of those.

Evelyn uses dual POV within chapters really well. For example, the swapping POV within their first sex scene together, creates great understanding of building intimacy & perspectives of them both. Sometimes swapping POV from paragraph to paragraph can be confusing & clunky, but this is beautifully done.

If this is Evelyn’s first book, I can’t wait to read what comes next! She’ll definitely be a one-click read for me!

I had so much fun with this book. The author did an amazing job with this fake boyfriend romance.
The dynamic between the characters was unusual, but interesting and it fit the storyline. The chemistry between James and Josh was off the scale and

this was wow. so so so steamy, and so well built and developed. Josh, an escort, and James, a billionaire, had really good chemistry and they were so fitting for each other.

the story was good, and there was a mini angst, but it all worked out so well!

the pov switches in between scenes was very confusing for me. i'm glad for the pov change, but a little indication would have been nice.

Spoiler i'm very disappointed in Josh's attitude though. after being treated so well by James, he accused James so harshly. it was a job, a client, an arrangement. James wasn't in any wrong when he didn't contact Josh after it all ended. Josh acted like James was hurting him, when both didn't communicate anything. what's worse was that Josh did not apologise for his words towards James, and everything was blamed on James.

Okay so I have to say I truly enjoyed this book. It’s not like anything I’ve read before. But I did find this book a bit hard to read at times. I think it was the escort part of it I guess. You always want the main characters to get their happy ending but it’s hard to read their struggles. And this one I found it heart wrenching at times. James had so many feelings in his head but he took forever to reveal them to Josh. I guess they both held gad a lot. But still they did finally figure it out and they got a super sweet happy ending.
