Eh. I won’t say I didn’t get anything out of it, but my favorite parts were the quotes from OTHER authors, so that’s not the best recommendation. There was a lot of descriptions of therapy sessions involving guided imagery, ex. “Imagine a fairy that represents your fear. What color is the fairy?” I just don’t get anything out of stuff like that. I was looking for more philosophy and less therapy and guided meditation scripts.

Reread.
A great reminder (if not a bit repetitive) to ask why of yourself and be okay with the answer.

This is a book that came at a perfect time, as I navigate unexpected grief. Tara Brach writes in stories from her meditation retreats & therapy practice, to illustrate what it means to live with radical acceptance. To be with sensation & pain rather than resist it, to approach ourselves & others with compassion. She has meditations after each chapter to practice each concept. I found it approachable and grounding and something I will return to in my personal life and in my therapy practice.
