This was pretty wonderful. The juxtaposition of the first half v the second half was executed flawlessly. I had a hard time keeping up with the rapid introduction of characters in the second half (which is a problem I have a lot with fantasy genre) but the story carried me through. Yay!

Deberían tener una opción de estrellas en negativo para poder calificar los libros....

El peor libro que he leído so far.... y eso que varios están en la lista.

Entiendo que le guste escribir libros largos al autor... pero esta fumada ¿qué?

not my personal favorite SK book, but still really good. fantasy is not my favorite genre but with SK’s slow burn i felt like i could really understand and get a good grasp on the world building and characters, so i wasn’t confused at all. i just cared most about the beginning of the book before all of the fairy tale stuff began hahaha

DID NOT FINISH

I prefer King’s older horror classics.

I got distracted by a book club series that was a bigger time commitment than I realized. I will come back to Fairy Tale, maybe around spooky season.

This book just wasn't for me, honestly I have had it for ages and it was a present so I kinda felt obligated to read it which might have added to my feeling of it being a slog. It seems the fantasy part doesn't start for a while and for such a long book, I need to be feeling engaged early to invest myself in the book. I also don't think coming of age books are where I am at right now, I am no longer in my teens and my tastes have changed.

My first Stephen King novel and it did not disappoint.

I won’t go into the synopsis too much, as with my opinion of most books, and definitely with this, going in with less of a idea of what’s going to happen is best. The blurb of the book itself gives too much away imo.

Fairy Tale follows a 17 year old boy who has experienced the loss of his mother and having to live with his alcoholic father. He meets a grumpy old man called Howard and his dog Radar. He instantly falls in love with Radar (and so will the reader) and the story follows him as he sets out to help the dog and his owner.

This book does a fantastic job of waving in the real world with fairy tales. There’s a real slice of life that somehow fits in perfectly with a magical world this book creates. The concept is actually so simple and so text book but the characters and the messages taken away from this makes it so much more. I weren’t in a rush to get to the end of this as I just wanted to sit and enjoy the story in a slower pace.

If you’re a animal lover who classes pets as part of the family you’ll be a sucker for this one too.
