Overall trilogi ini diakhiri dgn bagus, walau pas baca agk membuat bingung krn kompleksnya cerita & banyaknya karakter.

I just loved being again in this world Trudi Canavan has created with the Wilds and Auraya and the magic that inhabits the land and its people.

Beautifully told and the storylines come to a satisfying conclusion.

Loved the narrator of this audiobook I got from my local library.

I enjoyed the third installment of this trilogy, but didn't find the end as satisfying as I'd hoped. There were some interesting revelations in this one, and some great development, but there were some plot threads that never really developed and the larger conflict came so near the end that it felt sudden and a bit unresolved for me.

The third installment of the Age Of The Five trilogy cannot, in my opinion, quite live up to the second one, which is the height of the series (even though there isn’t much action happening).
Maybe the reason is that the author is not very comfortable with writing battle scenes or intense conflict. However, this does not explain all of this book’s shortcomings.
The characters are struck by a very intense kind of blockheadedness. Sometimes their extreme ignorance and stupidity can drive you up the wall and many surprises can be seen coming from a mile away.
Still, the book does sometimes manage to surprise and the unfolding revelations about the world and its concepts are quite interesting (and leave you wanting to know more – which you don’t get).
The very end of the book was, sadly, very anticlimactic, and even the bittersweet taste of true love couldn’t win me over. I feel that a slight restructuring and a change in pace, maybe a few more pages in the end, could have made a huge difference.

A very influential book (series) during my teenage years, but no masterpiece.

The final volume in The Age of Five trilogy was a bit slow to start but had a strong story and an excellent ending. While I can see why this series might not appeal to everyone, I think the trilogy explores a lot of interesting topics and has a well woven tapestry of story lines that give plenty of perspective and immersion in the world.

Really this is a 3.5 star read. I don't often want to half star but this is very middle ground.

Parts were slow, parts were much more exciting that the rest of the series. The world building into other lands and exploring of the other religion were interesting. The plot twisted near the end in exciting ways that I half remembered from reading this series 10 years ago.

Overall it was the best installment but I found there to be too much dialogue which often repeated itself which rather felt like it was dumbing down the reading age. However this is an adult read and whilst the content isn't necessarily explicit there is mention of rape and prostitution in the series that make it need to be rated adult.

Meine Meinung

Wertung (5/5)

a truly amazing ending to a good trilogy. any problems in the last books were completly solved in this one. there are so many things to say i dont know where to start.
in this book i came to truly love a lot of characters and couldn't help but feel concern for a lot of them as the story progressed. unlike the first book when i hardly cared what happened to most of them! one of the most interesting things in this book and the whole trilogy was the fact that you had to constently choose sides becouse you got to know both sides of the war equally. it wasn't a good vs evil fight and none of them was a lot more likable than the other so choosing sides had a lot to do with personal opinion which rarely happenes in fantasy books, sure gray characters are everywhere but at the end there is always one obvious good side, but not in this book. at the start of the book i liked a lot of pentadrian including the charming first voice of them but as the book went by i started hating him little by little and it was the same about a lot of other characters too . as i got to know them better i had to change my mind about them, unlike most of the fantasy books when no matter what happenes it hardly changes how i feel about the characters .
the characters were also very realistic, some of the most belivable ones i have ever read becouse just like in real world you had to know them little by little, sometimes at first just the good stuff and sometimes just the bad .
the pace of the book was at first slow - though still a lot better than the first book - but it became a lot faster as the book went by. so that when you reached the third part no matter who's pov it was it was exiting. when there was about 100 pages left of the book i could not see a way everything could be brought together by the end but surprisingly the ending was perfect with absoulotly no lose ends .
it was a truly bitter sweet end. while chaia's death made me truly sad and danjin's way of thinking was depressing, the wilds talking about future and auraya and mirar's kind of happy ending was really nice and exiting.
the ending just like the whole book was nicely done and truly realistic. chaia dying was the most touching scene of the series and it was beautifully done . and danjin accepting auraya as a traitor was deffentely sad and a bit surprising becouse i expexted there to be at least one conversation but it was the most believable ending if you thought about it. the bit of mystery about the gull when the wilds were considering their future was interesting . and the future they planned definitely seemed bright.
i'm not sure how i felt about the epilogue about the maker. it was a nice touch, as if to show after a little time history repeats itself or that mortals need someone to worship but still the author could have just left that for us to decide. i instead wished the epilouge showed a bit of wilds or at least aurayas and mirar's life 50 years later though i know it would be pointless since the already shared they plans for future.
to sum up this was really the best ending possible for this series . and the series was worth reading . :)
