Fiona and Bram are going through the perfect separation, they think. The children are always in the home and they split time between the home and an apartment. Everything seems so civilized and sensible till Fiona comes home to find another couple moving into her home, their home. Now it seems Bram is nowhere to be found.
A suspenseful tale of betrayal on top of betrayal till the jaw dropping end.

Really enjoyed the story! I can agree with some other reviews that it could have been shorter definitely, but this didn’t detract from my experience.
challenging
slow-paced
I feel so accomplished for finally trudging through this! 👏🏻
In “Our House”, Fi is shocked to come home to find strangers moving into her home. She’s insistent that there must be some mistake, and through a past/present narrative it’s revealed to us what’s really going on.
I’m sorry, but this book was SO boring. I’ll admit that the first chapter had me intrigued, but it was all down hill from there. The plot took a completely different turn than what I was expecting, and it’s really all just a lot of talking with no action or suspense. I read a lot of thrillers, and IMO this does not read like a thriller at allllll.. Id say closer to chick-lit with a dash of “mystery”. I debated between 1 and 2 stars and ultimately settled on 2 because although I hated the book, the beginning and very end were somewhat interesting. Can’t say I recommend this one!

What to say about this? It was definitely written in a compelling way and had me hooked till the end. There were a few great WTF moments throughout. But when it was all over I expected a bit more explanations about a few things in the plot. I also thought the end was much darker than I expected. I hope that was vague enough to not spoil it for anyone.
I've been intrigued by this novel's premise ever since I heard about it. It really is distressing to think about how quickly and easily identity/property theft could ruin someone's life. That fear is at the heart of OUR HOUSE, which starts with Fiona's discovery of strangers moving into her house and moves backward in time to explain how and why it happened. While the plot is compelling, I wanted more complexity from it, more twists and surprises. It didn't have a lot of those. The ending is just depressing. Overall, then, OUR HOUSE is engrossing but not all that satisfying.

Told in two different formats that were unique and interesting. One was the transcript of sorts of a podcast that Fiona Lawson made about this incident that happened to her and the other was a word document that Abraham Lawson left behind. Sprinkled amongst these two formats were narration to help give a little context and help move the story along.
Fiona Lawson approaches her house where she is "bird nesting" with her soon to be ex husband and finds all of her belongings gone and a new family moving in. She must quickly get to the bottom of this without the aid of this soon to be ex husband who has disappeared. What an interesting mystery!

Our House grabs you from the first sentence and doesn't let go, even after it is over. Fi, a woman whose husband cheats on her, puts aside their differences for their children. She decides to house share with her husband so that the children can remain in the same house instead of going back and forth between houses. This unusual decision is difficult as it is but imagine Fi's surprise to arrive at the house for her time with the children, only to find out it has been sold to someone else without her knowledge.
As the story unravels, you begin to understand the circumstances from 3 sides, Fi's, Bram's, and a 3rd narrative side. Just as you think you have everything figured out, another twist is revealed. The twists keep coming even at the end.
I greatly enjoyed this story. The twist at the end leaves me wanting a second book to see what happens next. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone.
Thank you to Netgalley and Berkeley Publishing House for allowing me to read this advanced copy. The opinions above are my honest review of the book.

Wow I loved this book! I really appreciated how Candlish was able to weave so many different concepts together and how complex the set up was. I enjoyed the additional comments from the 'listeners' and really felt it added to the story.
Many fine reviews and promise of a page turner found me picking this one up recently at my library. It was just that, a page turner, very well plotted, and a great addition to the newish genre of domestic fiction. My suggestion is to read the publisher's blurb, and then go in blind as there are some spoilers given in reviews.
I believe I'd like to try another by Candlish to see if she is always this good.
The Line "Comparison is the thief of joy:"
