What a magical world that Hamilton created. I loved the diversity of the environment she produced, the mix of old world magic and the grit of the more modern world. She wove mythological legends and lore into a world that held me tight and had me glued to the pages. I adored Amani because she struggled with the world she lived in and where she belonged in it. That made me connect with her. Then there is Jin, dashing and just wild. I fell for him just as hard as I did for the world I was lost in.

The adventure was alluring, the action brilliant and non-stop, and the romance (I loved that it wasn't the main focus but a lovely aspect that I couldn't get enough of) was beautifully woven into this fantasy tale. All in all, Rebel of the Sands was an engaging and thrilling read. I can't wait for the next installment.

Aesthetic is the right word for this book. The setting is absolutely mystical and captivating, and not just in the physical sense. The desert fantasy, magical creatures, rebels, dark myths, all beautifully woven into the plot. Of course, we can’t leave out the fact that our heroine is a snarky queen of sass which just makes it all so much more intense. Engaging and alluring, this would be an overall enjoyable read for fantasy fanatics.

I finished this one this morning and I can't wait to start Traitor to th Throne.

In the biggining there was something that was making it a little difficult to get into the story, but maybe that was college. I really liked this world and the character development. I do thing we can see Jin and Amani growing in this book. I think, in the beggining, Jin didn't care about all that much

Spoilerexcept his family
and Amani only cared about herself and Tamid, even tho that in the end she ended up caring more about herself than him. So I really liked seeing Amani go from not caring about anyone except herself and leaving people behind to starting to care about Jin and her friends.
SpoilerNever though she was going to end up being magical, always thought it's Jin who was a djinn
.

[b:Rebel of the Sands|24934065|Rebel of the Sands (Rebel of the Sands, #1)|Alwyn Hamilton|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1446829335l/24934065._SY75_.jpg|44589645] is a YA fiction fantasy read with a simplistic yet astounding writing style to equip readers with an excellent fast paced page turner adventure.

This book brings upon the moral of writing your own story, it inspires readers to take control of their own lives, and not live in someone's shadow. Strive for your own freedom and independence, but do not forget the kindship among people whose paths crossed yours.

The sands are filled with many mysteries, some dangerous, but some pleasant and it is up to the protagonist to write her story. Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton is the first volume to its trilogy, the beginning to a steep journey ahead that takes place in a mystical desert unknown to her innocent and pure eyes. The world building is fantastic, it takes the reader to a new perspective of the desert with a religious approach, and a questionable theory for readers to keep themselves actively thinking about the right or wrong in such times of peril. It introduces many captivating creatures and human characters that have a strong presence in the story, and I can say it will only get better book by book as we ascend into the trilogy.

The only problem with the book I find personally, was the extreme simplicity, well I am mentally prepared to face this change of pace, I still regard it as a steep decrease of vocabulary compared to other YA reads I have faced before. But in defense of the author, this was indeed her first ever book publication, so it is to be expected in that sense. Still, I will justify my judgement with one star removed for this reason.

This book is undoubtedly recommended for readers that enjoy a breezy fast paced adventure with many mysteries and theories to unravel over time. It is highly suggested to have a go after shelving a long fantasy read, to accommodate the exhaustion. I myself was reading the title, [b:Lord Foul's Bane|219205|Lord Foul's Bane (The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever, #1)|Stephen R. Donaldson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1333217655l/219205._SY75_.jpg|958463]. It was an unbearable process but i pulled through till the end. I began my 3rd read of the year with Rebel of the Sands and i was not disappointed. It was what I needed after a tiresome read previously, it's fast-paced, romantic with just the right portion, and filled with enough mystery to keep one on edge.

DNF45% - This sounded so awesome in the description, and the first few chapters were pretty great, but then it turned into the world's longest most boring road trip ever.

I loved the cover of this book but when I found out it was a bit of a "gunslinger" ish themes, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. I ended up really enjoying this book and all the magical elements to it. Can't wait to continue with this series.
