This book was extremely witty, humorous and well written.
At first, I was a bit reluctant to read it I though that it may be more sexual in its portrayal of love, (I advise: do not judge a book, written by this author, by its cover). It was a fantastic read, I wouldn't change any part of it.

Viscount Sheffield was portrayed as kind, clever and quite charming. Whilst, Amelia was stunning in her foresight and ability to think of everything. They made a good team. I appreciate how there was no 'love at first sight', instead it was a gradual process. I'd have liked it to have been longer, but then we can't have everything. This quickly became a favourite. I have four favourites, as of yet. And it's funny, how I like them all for very different reasons.

I'd also like to mention that whilst I was reading this, I didn't look at how much was left at all. Usually, I become impatient and want the book to end because I either have to sleep or do some homework but this book was very distracting (in a good way).

A charming novella about Lady Amelia Pembroke who decides she must marry in order to allow her younger brother to marry and bring his wife back to the ancestral home. Her plan is to attend the 75th Annual Christmas Ball held by Lord Sheffield, an event which all eligible bachelors will attend. However, her plans are thwarted when she discovers that this year's ball has been cancelled due to a lightening strike on the ballroom Amelia is determined to bring the full force of her considerable organisational talents to making the event occur.

When a hyper-organised, managing woman meets a man who carefully regiments his life between working from 8 am to 8 pm and cavorting from 8 pm to 8 am sparks are bound to fly, but who is really managing whom?

This is my entry into the Dukes of War series and so far I like what I read. It also makes a nice change from all the contemporaries I have been reading lately.

A delightful short novella. It’s nothing spectacular, but is entertaining and a good introduction to the rest of the series.

3/2 - I really liked Amelia and found her managerial skills laugh-out-loud funny and very impressive. I wish this had been a full length novel, I definitely think there was scope for both characters to be expanded into a 300ish page book. There wasn't really anything about the content of the book that I didn't like, it was what was missing that brought this down to a four star. I will definitely read more from this series (from the library or cheap Amazon purchase, might go check for further books in the series right now). I was lucky enough to get this one for free.

I read this earlier this year and apparently it did not make an impression because I don't remember much.
