3.5-4 stars. Thank you to Simon & Schuster for an ARC. This book was very quirky and cute. It managed to stay fresh everyday despite the Groundhog’s Day plot. Barrett Bloom grew on me. She was very guarded and brash to begin with but you learn that’s her go-to defense mechanism. Her and Miles are very different but bring out the best in each other. Their relationship was surprisingly relatable considering they have only each other to talk to in this time loop. Overall, this was a cute and witty book and I will read more from this author.

so torn between 4.5 and 5 because i loved this book but did i LOVE it? i can’t tell. 4.85 perhaps. idk it doesn’t matter we can just say 5

with that out of the way, i really did love this book. barrett is a great main character. she is snarky and chaotic and funny and strong and it’s a joy to read her pov. miles as a friend and a love interest is top notch with his dry sense of humor and realistic, methodical approach to things. seeing the two of them compromise and work together on things feels triumphant.

the plot is one that could easily get boring but doesn’t. i felt intrigued by their little mystery the whole time, continually wanting to find out more about the time loop but also being invested in their relationship. their individual motivations were compelling and everything just came together so nicely.

this book is diverse and heartfelt and hilarious. i really do love it.

I just love RLS’s writing! She has such a way with crafting beautiful stories that draw you in and keep you hooked. This was a fun read, and I loved the Groundhog Day vibes.

This was definitely a fun take on a well-used time loop trope, but even with this idea being used time and time again, it didn’t feel old. I liked that they played into knowing what was happening and referenced other movies with the same scenario, but it was still able to have its own unique twist to it.

Barrett Bloom was a dynamite leading lady! It was refreshing that she was a curvy gal and absolutely rocked it, and I could easily see myself being her friend and enjoying her sarcastic/witty comments. I definitely related to her tendency to cope with big emotions by using humor, and I’m glad to see that she was able to grow past that as a default as the story progressed. It was heartbreaking, yet empowering, to see how she was able to rise above what she’d gone through in high school and become the confident journalist she wanted to be.

Barrett and Miles were so quirky and sweet together! I absolutely loved watching their love bloom (no pun intended), and their opposites attract dynamic was lovely. I’m a sucker for an innocent, sweet, nerdy guy who falls head over heels for the girl first. Every time he blushed because of Barrett’s comments, my heart melted a little. And I also related to his struggle with big ears. I, too, was called Dumbo for most of my childhood

This book will have me in a chokehold for the rest of my life
