This book picks up right where book 1 ends. Glad we didn't have to wait long to get answers about Lucy. And grabbed me just like book 1. And both of them taking Lucy in was amazing. I definitely see them being my favorite Sadie Kincaid couple.

Look I'm not one for drama but Bobby (Alana's ex) showing up, was a great plot device. Seeing Alejandro possessive side come out, ugh chef's kiss. But also showed the double standard in the relationship considering like Alana said, Alejandro talks to his exs all the time. But ew to Alex thinking Bobby was the better man. If that was the case she would have stayed with him.

Their banter and dialogue was what kept this book interesting. The scene with the $2 million car scene had a giggling. And it was sweet at the same time, "my money is your money"

4.5⭐️

Although I would consider this to be a major improvement compared to Fierce King, this sequel was still an almost DNF for me - as can be seen from the literal week it took me to read less than 300 pages.

While the grammatical errors were significantly improved, allowing for somewhat better readability, the cringe-worthy wording was still near unbearable - the overuse of the words “coño” and “creamed” (or some variation of the word) have essentially given me PTSD.

The lack of character development was still ever-present, particularly within Alana. I felt that she either had a childish demeanor (e.g. taking off to New York after eavesdropping on the conversation between Alejandro and his father) or she hadn’t a single ounce of backbone (e.g. literally forgiving Alejandro for everything immediately after being upset with him). Maybe I’m spoiled from the fantasy series that I have read, but a meek and mild woman just doesn’t cut it for me anymore - Thank you SJM and Twisted Sisters.

Additionally, I never thought that I would EVER say these words, but here we are.. While I am all for smut (as in smut is usually a vital component to whether I decide to read a book), there may be such a thing as too much smut. I can't see the need for every single chapter (I may be exaggerating, but I honestly don't think that I am) to either start or end with them having sex, especially when there is bare minimum plot development and resolution to the never-ending drama. But, I suppose when the MC's solution to every issue in their marriage is sex, then this makes sense.

Overall, thoroughly disappointed with this duet and my somewhat brief return back to the dark mafia romance genre - back to fantasy/paranormal dark romance I go.

The 1 star is literally only because I accidentally clicked on it and couldn't figure out how to remove it.

Thoughts: Great read, will continue this series!

This is for the duet, which is a solid mafia-style tale of an arranged marriage that ends up being so much more. After Alejandro gets his head out of his a$$ and realizes just how much he and Alana work well together. And then we definitely get an "I'll kill anyone that hurts you" vibe.
