Very touching and gives a perspective to adults that kids feel and know what’s going on. They deserve to be heard, and ask to not have you be ashamed of them, no matter reason.

Kids can be real jerks sometimes. I'm glad this book exists to spread awareness of Tourette's though. I think making different abilities visible and accessible is really important, especially with younger audiences.
Cute. Simplistic. Reminds me of Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus.

It was so refreshing to read this middle grade romance(?) it’s been a long time since i read something so light and warm like this. I love calli and jinsong so so much. I’d love to give them a hug. The story was predictable ofc but it was nice to read their relationship. Although, i hate that calli’s mom wasn’t change at all and there was no redemption arc for her. P.S. she’s such a shitty mom.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Forget Me Not” by Ellie Terry was a sweet YA / Middle Grade read. It was a quick narrative following a young girl, Calliope June, who has Tourette syndrome. She attempts to keep it hidden, but that actually makes things harder for her. Besides this major factor in her life, her mother struggles with relationships, often moving every time another one fails. I wished the book focused more on this complicated issue and her mother’s mishandling of Calliope’s TS.
When they move again, Calliope meets a new friend next door, also the school president, and there’s potential to adjusting in this new place after all. Yet, the story follows the hardships of being different in middle school and the pressure of going with the crowd.
I enjoyed the simple premise and the character dynamics, even if only gradual. I think the story could have been expanded to include more backstory, and build upon the complexities more so. However, this is still a great story for everyone, especially students learning about tolerance, disabilities, and kindness.
Happy reading! 📚
