I received a digital ARC for review consideration.

Saving Fable is a delightful gem of a novel in that it's a vibrant story and wholly original. I previously read Scott Reintgen's The Nyxia Triad series, which I enjoyed. Reintgen has a creative touch on his work and has truly wielded his craft in storytelling. I enjoyed reading about Indira's character, but I have to say that the world building of Saving Fable takes the cake. Although this is a Middle Grade novel, I felt that the story honored the intelligence and imagination of it's intended target audience.

Saving Fable is an immersive adventure story with a fun cast of characters. Reintgen continues to whisk together the delicious ingredients for remarkable storytelling.

I received this as an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Indira has waited to be selected for her story, she has waited forever in her character-in-waiting town. Finally, when she is selected, some newbie tries to take her place! This turns into a quick arch nemesis scenario, which dogs Indira at every step. Instead of passing the test and being selected for hero training, she is pushed to become a side character. Indira knows that there are some saboteurs around and she is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.

This was a solid fantasy novel. I enjoyed the characters and story enough to want to read the next book. Young readers will like this novel.

Great messages, great concept, fun little mystery and I liked the narration. Fun middle grade story for those who like almost twisted fairy tails with an adventure thrown in.

Indira Story dream's of becoming a hero in an upcoming story. But after a failed audition she land's in Protagonist Preparatory's side-character track. Throughout the story she does her best to earn her way to becoming a protagonist, all while uncovering a dark scheme threatening the land of Fable.

Saving Fable was one of the best stories I've read so far this year. Clever and fun, there's so many lovely details and references to other famous stories that made me immediately want to read it again from the beginning. While I recommend this for people who love The School of Good and Evil or The Land of Stories, I also think any teacher or book lover would fall in love with this story as well.

More than anything Saving Fable is a love letter to books, their characters and the people who create them. I can't wait to read the next one.

I only read this book because of a Scott Reintgen visit. It is too young for most of my students, but it is clever and would make a good introduction to reading and writing for a 6th or 7th-grade class.

So the book is very slow for the first 2/3. It's very interesting world-building, but not much happens. Then the last 1/3 goes by super fast!

I loved the characters, and it even made me cry in the end. (Happy tears mostly, but it was also very moving.)

This entire book was very creative. The author created a world where characters are going to school to try to make it into books, dog ears are actual little dogs, ideas are mined, and brainstorms can meet with authors in the real world and then come back to the world of imagination. However, I felt that there was something lacking in order to really capture me. My 10 year old son really liked it, though.
