My Actual Rating: 1.5 stars
Here's the thing about Matched: the plot's very predictable and bleak – no suspense, no I'm-on-the-edge-of-my-seat moment; in other words, boring.
It started out pretty well for me but then as I made progress, I found myself skimming the pages, no longer bothering if I missed some important details or not because as I said earlier, it's predictable. Nothing worth piquing my interest. Well maybe, except of course, for the poetry. I'd give credits to Ally Condie for using some poetry here and also for her writing style. It was smooth and unique in a way I can't explain. It made me give this book a 1.5 rating instead of a one.
But still, Matched and I are absolutely incompatible. We are not a match and yes, pun intended. This is just sad. I love dystopian books but this one just didn't get to me. I'd still find some time to read the rest of the trilogy, though. Yes, I am that considerate.

I started off hating this book. I was afraid that is was too much like the Hunger Games. And I HATED the ending of the Hunger Games. But I forged on, and found that I REALLY liked it. I love Cassia's character a lot more than Katniss. I am just hoping the outcome of this series will be better than the HG.
it was alright. very fast forward, quite a quick read, very enjoyable but not quite AMAZING
All I have to say is that it was ok! It definitely didn't rock my socks off or anything :(
I give this book a 3.5 stars. The first half of the book was not as interesting to me as the other half, but the ending was worth it. I'm definitely going to be reading the sequel Crossed later this year because I want to know how Cassia's story ends.
Good book, very similar to Divergent. Quick and easy read.

First of all, I would like to congratulate Ally Condie for starting a dystopian series.
I always have felt the awkwardness between Cassia and Xander and immediately knew they aren't the match I was hoping for. My hunch told me so, which was quite right.
When she mentioned Ky's name to the official, by the description, I already liked ky by THAT much. He's the kind of guy that I cease to exist in real life. He has a kind and loving heart. He experienced things that a young person should not and cannot carry, but because he is so strong he survived the hardship. And I admire him for that.
But for Cassia, I did not like her immediately. I felt uneasiness for her by liking Ky and liking Xander and thinking of Ky while with Xander and sometimes thinking of Xander while with Ky.
If I were her, I'd rather choose Ky. He's my new fictional crush. <3
And finally, I like the way Ally Condie narrated the story. It doesn't confuse me to whoever is speaking. She has a way of expressing things that I have ALWAYS wanted to learn since childhood.
And now, that gives me that-matched-feel.

Though I enjoyed this book pretty well, I was still a bit underwhelmed. I have read so many dystopians lately that they all are running together, and that is definitely not a good thing in a genre that should promote creativity and new plotlines. Instead it is the same story about a teen who is being forced into doing something, but instead decides to buck the system and act independently. It can be a formula for high drama, but it can also feel like you are reading the same story over and over just with different character names. And there is always a predictable love triangle where the girl will almost always pick the boy that she "shouldn't."
Cassia is a standard likable character. The main thing that stood out for me that made her unique was her sorting ability. That was something new and interesting in this story. Poor Xander doesn't really stand a chance and gets very little screen time, but perhaps he will make a comeback in book two and there will actually be a more equal triangle. Ky is the outcast who is irresistible to Cassia and opens her eyes to some of the things going on and to *gasp* cursive. I had to laugh when I realized that Cassia was totally losing it over something so pointless.
The uprising is surely coming, but there weren't really a lot of hints about it yet in this novel. Ky will certainly be back and leading the charge, and I will be along for the ride.
