Meno bello del primo.
In questo secondo e ultimo volume della serie ci ritroviamo catapultati dopo 3 anni i fatti del primo libro, Resta anche domani. Ritroviamo Mia e Adam più grandi, diventate delle star nei loro settori e con una vita che prosegue avanti senza la compagnia dell'altro, perché nel frattempo è successa una rottura e i due non stanno più insieme. La voce narrante questa volta è di Adam, l'ex ragazzo di Mia, che vive in una situazione di dipendenza dai farmaci e con tante fobie in un periodo di ascesa e di grande fama del suo gruppo rock, gli Shooting Star. La rottura però non è avvenuta solo con Mia, ma anche con il suo modo di vivere e la sua band.
Se il primo romanzo era stato devastante, il seguito è triste e sconsolante: chi si ricordava un bellissimo ritratto dei protagonisti adolescenti adesso si ritrova davanti due semi-adulti che devono fare i conti con quello che è successo nel loro recente passato, solo 3 anni prima e che cercano di affrontare una nuova vita che certe volte li svuota completamente.
La scrittura della Forman è come sempre scorrevole e piacevole da leggere, ma sento che è mancato qualcosa rispetto al primo volume, come quasi sempre capita nelle serie.
È un libro più maturo e per certi versi più doloroso del primo, ma non manca comunque l'happy ending, che considerati i protagonisti mi aspettavo per forza di cose: Mia e Adam erano legati da un'amore troppo forte per non resistere a tutto.
In definitiva mi sento di consigliare il romanzo e la serie a chi ama le storie drammatiche, ma anche a chi ha voglia di leggere dei romanzi che, pur avendo un peso emotivo, si leggono in poche ore e con molto trasporto, con personaggi che entrano nel cuore e che sarà difficile dimenticare, anche se la storia, da parte della Forman, poteva essere raccontata in maniera migliore.

I'm so glad I dove into this sequel pretty quickly after finishing If I Stay. It was so nice getting Adam's perspective and I'm glad the author chose that direction. The pacing, writing, characters, and story all felt so genuine. As a parallel to the first audiobook with Mia's Cello instrumental, they added in guitar riffs for Adam. Loved that. Gayle Forman is a fantastic author and I will be reading more from her.

Kind of the same issue as the last book. Dropped in the middle and expected to know everything. Both books should’ve just been combined, also I personally am not a fan of moving back and forth on a time line. It’s infuriating 🤣
I loved if I stay but wow this book I don't even know how to describe how much I loved it. It's sooo amazing, I couldn't stop reading it before I end it. So much feelings, like all that adam's pain and loneliness, okay I can't find a word to describe that book better than perfect
This was an AMAZING sequel. I cannot get enough. I don't think i'll be able to read another book for awhile. This book made me feel so many things.

Good. Didn’t read the first book but this didn’t make it so this book was hard to follow.
so nice to read this book from adam's perspective instead of mia's. it was a nice change for a follow-up novel. when i got to the 70% mark and it seemed like the climax had hit, i was a little disappointed. i mean, a climax that far from the end? but thankfully it wasn't and the book totally surprised me by pulling a 180. i cried at the end. really lovely all around.
