4.5 stars - So the only reason I can't wholey give this 5 stars is because I didn't like 90% of chapter 1. I went into this not knowing what to expect other than that it might be a romance and I know there are a few reviewers I follow who I have somewhat similar taste to that didn't love this but I also know so many that adore this - so I Was worried when I was starting chapter 1 and not really feeling it - and then Soo-won is her cousin and she's obsessed with him and im like - ew no? and for a good few chapters I was reading with the "oh no I'm going to be one of the people who dislikes this" - but decided its a short book so I should keep reading - but then the ending of chapter 1 happened and I'm so glad I kept reading.
Honestly Chapter 2 onwards just kept building on the intensity and heartbreak of chapter 1 and by the end of the volume I was just so intruiged by Yona & Hak and the journey they'll be going on especially since the first panel of chapter 1 seems to indicate a certain kind of story. I hope to get to the rest soon.

This was a fun anime, so I decided to try the manga. While I miss the color, it was fun, and slightly heart wrenching, to see the beginning of Yona and Hak's story again. I really love the cover, and I will be continuing the series so that I can see past where the anime left off. I'm excited to meet each of the dragons, and see how Yona grows and changes throughout the story, as she starts off a bit whiny and immature. That said, she grows into someone strong, capable, and really endearing as the story goes on. 4 stars!

This was a fun reread! It's exciting to re-experience the story after having read so much of it. The art is gorgeous! 5 stars.

•read the vnm version•
okay my immediate thoughts are:
• yona is um... not as I expected
• love hak!!!
• hate soo won! but also like the child soo won with the kind personality!
• so many thoughts and question about the empire
• great plot! I really enjoy it so much!!
• the artwork is very pretty also!
okay let’s elaborate on these thoughts.
first of all, i always heard that yona is so strong and she’s a fighter, but from what i seen she’s the exact opposite. she’s quite timid, spoiled, and naive. and i don’t really like those characteristics in her. but she’s also kind, which i love. and i understand she’s in a deep spot right now. but i guess i went into this thinking she was a fighter, but all i see is she just slope around being really depress.
hak is just amazing! love his sarcastic child self, i don’t know if it still translate to his adult self. since so far I only see that he’s a fighter and really caring. but I hope to see more of his sarcastic self, it’s quite fun.
soo won... i kinda spoiled myself from watching the anime (it was what got me into this manga series) but I knew he was the killer. though I did have my doubt since yona seem to love him so much. And like I have mixed feelings about him.
THE PLOT IS JUST SO GOOD!!! I ABSOLUTELY ENJOY IT! I WANNA CARRY ON READING THIS!
