Anthologies are hard to rate because some stories you like, others you dont and for me some I don't even read because they do not spark my interest in the slightest. I'll just mention the ones I enjoyed in this one: Mile 81, cookie jar, Obits, herman wouk is still alive, under the weather and morality.
I think Different Seasons is the best writing Stephen King has ever done (not that I’ve read all of his writing), but he really does shine in his short stories and this collection is just another example.
Popsugar challenge - #12 - A book recommended by someone you just met
This one was recommended at the first Something witty bookclub, as a good audible listen. Each of Steven King's short stories are narrated by somebody different. Steven King's dark style is not my normal go to, and some of his stories are just creepy! But I enjoyed them more than I anticipated, I especially liked how a lot of his stories take place in New England and he's describing stretches of I-95 that I've driven a hundred times. My favorite was actually the ones that Steven King himself read, or the narrations in between the short stories, I thought his annotates to his writing process was much more enjoyable then the stories themselves. Although the Car that gobbles up humans, and the pink kindle stories were fantastic. I'll admit that I won't be so hesitant about Mr. King from now on.

3.75 stars. I liked most of these stories. I listened to the audiobook. Stephen King did an intro to each story. It was a nit annoying after a while, but sometimes it was helpful (like ones that related a bit more to his life experiences. ) all in all, worth the read, especially for Stephen King short story fans.

I have a really hard time with SK. As a die hard horror fiction fan, I'd have to turn in my membership card if I said I didn't like any of his stuff.... but I have a really hard time reading/retaining King's style of writing- it's like his material is intended to be a screenplay rather than an actual book. I think the failing is more mine; his description leaves a lot open for the reader to interpret and I am just not an imaginative person. I dunno, maybe I'm missing the point. BUT I say all that to say that his short stories are my kind of style. Easy to follow and really enjoyable for the most part. I've read it at least 3 times now and each time I notice something new (the single benefit to being a lousy detail person).
Wow! E poi ancora wow.
Wow! And then wow. The maximum score awardable is not enough to explain the merits of this collection of short stories. Especially because it is a collection, generally a thing usually not homogeneous in itself from the qualitative point of view, while in this case each piece is the closest neighbor imaginable to perfection (except one, but in the preface to the same Uncle Steve He speaks of its limitations in that genre, something which must be added to the fact that just about that specific genre I am very critical and even so this impact does not move one iota the volume value). In many reviews to King books, I wrote that the mind of the king must be a kind of storehouse, full of things put away who knows when and from which he draws them when he needs, and all this book, from the title, seems to me a clear demonstration that he himself sees his mind in the same way. And this is an idea that I love.
The stories were all about the topics and genres on which and in which King wrote in his life, and all the different ways of writing, but in any case there is the added maturity, the increasing understanding of the world, and why not, the increasing trade, to the quality of writing.
Read in English eh, that I got tired with the disappointments with the translations of the books of my favorite uncle.

This was my introduction to Stephen King and really made me realize why he's one of the greats. I think Stephen really thrives in the short-story format - his narrative voice is strong, his settings interesting, and the horror aspects fascinating and gripping without the need for character development which isn't his strongest suit. I remember immensely enjoying most of the stories and thinking it unique and separate from each other. 10/10 for creeps.
Having now read Pet Semetary, which I mostly enjoyed, and Joyland, which I pretty much didn't, I still think fondly of this collection of stories as the time Stephen really charmed me.
