This is a perfect summer book. Two marriages fall apart while on vacation in Italy. There's just enough of everything: relationship drama, food talk, a little dark but not too dark, funny, smart. It's told in chapters that alternate between the main players in the action, which is good because you get the story refracted through different points of view, but I felt like the "voices" of each character were a little too similar. A minor gripe, and one that does not take away from the enjoyment of the story one bit.

I'm honestly not completely sure how I feel about it. For one, I was completely hooked the entire time. So that's saying something. I read the whole thing in one sitting.
It's told in four different perspectives, by the two couples on the trip. It's unique in the way it's set up: a subtle building up to something, you just don't know what it is. Vague references and conflicts leave you desperately wanting to know what happens.
I was a bit disappointed with the end, I felt it lacking. I needed more of an explanation from the girl, would've loved if it included her perspective.

Starts off slow, (you think) almost predictable and then WHAM. I am not a morning person but I woke up early to finish this book before work because I was thinking about it all night in my sleep! Good for a quick, entertaining read.
I loved this book! I couldn't put it down. It was my first Delia Ephron book. I look forward to reading more from her.

3.5 stars. It's a great, fast beach read, and it does a good job pulling you into these unlikeable characters' minds. However I found the characters to be pretty one-note, and the big twist ending was fairly lackluster, especially with all the foreshadowing done earlier on. One character in particular struck me as incredibly naive and downright blind. That said, it was enjoyable enough, and if you're looking for something to whittle away some relaxation time, this could be the ticket.
