I was a little bit thrown off by the slightly formal aproach in this book, and the heavy christianish refrences in the beggining. I was kind of rooting for the MC. The love interesat was king of meh. It would have been great if he would have just focus on something it was too all over the place. At some point u are wandering what. Are u following? The MC, the politics, the interractions the MC has... That is king of blurry through out the book and while it could have been a great point it was porly executed. Too short for what it could have been. But at the end of the day Paolo is not the man to brag on too much in his books.... Am I Right?
The Fifth Mountain by Paulo Coelho
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
If Santiago in The Alchemist was a prophet, the book would be called ‘The Fifth Mountain’.
It’s a retelling of Prophet Elijah’s journey, where he goes through self-doubt, identity crisis, loss of faith and several hardships in order to find and fulfil his destiny.
Highly motivating with a lot of lessons and gives you a solid understanding of how Destiny works and Paulo Coelho’s simplistic way of writing makes it easier to read and grasp.
Paulo Coelho’s books (I’ve read only three) are essentially self-help books written in fiction which is not a problem, the problem is
1- The writing style is extremely simplistic, which might be bland for some readers.
2- There’s a constant feeling throughout the book that the story is not going anywhere, just random situations keep coming up and everything is unpredictable and you only come to know that there was an actual plot when you finish the book.
The funny thing is despite these problems and ranting, these books end up having the most annotations and notes of all the books you own and you can’t help it.

It is a good book based on religious content!! If you believe in god you can read the book!! I liked the book! Bt I’m not a person who like believes in god so much. I believe but not so much that there are people of god and everything!! But if u believe in such theories, it might interest you.
I was hesitant at first with the book. I was required to read this book for a book report at school and I initially picked this to write about among the book selections because the author was Paul Coelho.
I was at first skeptic with the first few chapters and was a bit bored with all the religious references but soon enough I couldn't put down the book and was pretty much hooked on it. I enjoyed Elijah's character and indecisions as he understands more about himself and his faith throughout the course of the book. I enjoyed most of the characters even if they barely had anything noteworthy about them.
To conclude this short and random review, I quite enjoyed the book. The religious references aren't exactly my cup of tea but it was a nice and easy ride for a story for my book report.

I read this in one day and was surprised at how immersed I became in the story. I'm more into epic fantasies than I am this kind of fiction, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were two things that stood out for me, first was the way Coelho approached the story telling in this fictionalization of Elijah. It gave me a new perspective on the way biblical stories are often told. Second, was that I realized regardless of where a person stands in their own beliefs on things like this, the wisdoms sprinkled throughout the novel were worth noting and reflecting on. I'm glad I took the time to read this.

You don't have to be an avid reader to understand one simple but an utmost important thing about novels. It is to give a right finish to the story, that carries the reader to the last page. With just four more pages left on my journey through this book, I was flabbergasted to realize that story ended with Elijah leaving Akbar for his hometown. And the rest of it was all covered as a side note, for the tranquillity of curiosity.
The author of this book has done it so well then I have started to appreciate him more than ever. It was really important for readers (like me) to be left with a thought of that message that the book carriers. It was important because a thought needs to be nurtured within ourselves. It takes time. And there was a chance that that thought is lost somewhere in the story.
However, how much futile the story was, I wanted protagonist to be content in few different instances other than when he was allowed to return. All along I felt like Elijah was a pessimist when he really was not.
