I ended up DNF'ing because I was bored by the story. The spice is great though.

Real talk here: Bait is one of those where you absolutely have to suspend disbelief because otherwise the whole damn dramatic house of cards comes tumbling down. But holy Hecate, if I don't adore this ridiculous book even still and if it didn't raise some serious spicy stakes. Leo and Abigail meet through an online site where she begs for a dubcon experience; both have significant baggage, but their kinks align and they build something beautiful together. First off, Leo Scott is sexy and dirty AF and I adored him. Abigal is a freaking legend (who has zero self preservation skills, but that's neither here nor there). I also loved the thriller plotline with Leo's brother and his significant other. It's a lyrical book with the style almost reading like poetry rather than an actual narrative. Even still, it'a somehow beautiful and enjoyable. PS...PAY ATTENTION TO THE TRIGGERS!

Deliciously dark. Gritty. Raw. Terrifying.
I’m thankful for the random number generator I used on my TBRs that brought me to this book. I couldn’t put it down and the only reason I did was because I fell asleep reading.
Like I said, deliciously dark, teetering on the edge of “shouldn’t I feel guilty for reading this?” Yes. But also no. It had my heart beating several times. Who doesn’t want to play hide and seek in the darkness by their own personal monster?

3.75 | honestly getting this in the audiobook format was a mistake. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot better if I just had gotten the e-book.

The spice was good but I wasn’t wowed by the book or the plot.
