Jade West reeeaalllly knows how to do dirty, taboo and kinky. Wow. I love her writing, it’s so smut but her characters always have a story, a life behind them. Ironically, our main characters start off with feeling lifeless. I loved our heroine, I didn’t think I would, but she was strong in her vulnerability. Our hero, or monster I should say, daaammmnnnnn someone give me a Leo any day! So glad I read this, Jade West is slowly becoming one of my favourite authors in this genre!! Definitely a recommendation if you’re not afraid of taboo and dirty. Like reallly dirty ;)

Oh Jade West you got me with one. I will admit that it speaks powerfully to some big kinks for me namely hunter/prey and consensual non-consent. They can really hard kinks to explore without straying too far into the non-con or too far into scripted/planned scenes but Jade West totally nails it in this book.
Obviously as their relationship deepens the edge of her 'fear' does fall away but that feels like a good natural progression within the context of the wider plot.
So often spicy books have either good plat with some spice or excellent spice with weak plot but this book has both and I bloody loved it.
This is my second Jade West, I already read Poison which I also really liked but this one blew me away and totally hooked me into the story and also turned me on. A lot!

This book has some added depth in true Jade West fashion. I was sold by the premise very early on, but once I started trying to put the pieces together for both Abigail's and Leo's pasts.

This I believe was my first Jade West book and I admit this book was purchased solely on the cover and the fact that I heard a recommendation for it because he was “pierced” if you catch my drift lol.
This is a story about 2 tortured souls, Abigail & Leo. They have a troubled past and there’s reasons why they are the way they are (which I’m not going to spoil in this review) but one night, after being tormented by her dreams, Abigail goes online and seeks out a monster in the darkness and she meets Pheonix.
This is a hunter & prey type of story. It’s very plot heavy and the spice is pretty repetitive. It involves involves “r@pe-like” scenarios which is a HUGE TW. If you can’t read about forced sex then this book is definitely not for you. Please check your trigger warnings!!
I gave this book 3.75 stars because again it is very plot heavy. Very dark, very emotional and I guess I expected a little different based on the reviews I got. I did, however, enjoy it very much.
As far as the spice scale goes.. I gave it a 3.5/5 because of only one type of spice being used.
This book can also be qualified as a romantic thriller.. it does have that thriller aspect to it. Overall, I liked it. Not bad for my first Jade West book.
