a heart—wrenching yet heartwarming story about motherhood: how mothers are willing to do anything for their children, even when they are already suffering. It shows the countless sacrifices every mother has made for the good of their family. One thing that I have learned is that a mother’s love is indeed the purest form of love.

3 stars. This book is written in second person and that was super off putting and took a while to get used to. The writing was okay, it left a lot to be desired and the ending was lackluster. But, for the things that I did like I really got emotional while reading this book. There’s something about stories about moms that get to me every single time and this one was no exception. I particularly liked part three I’m Home as it follows the husband and how he’s coping with his wife’s disappearance and it was so beautiful and heartbreaking. He spends a lot of the time lamenting on how he never listened to her and how he wished he could do things differently. It was the strongest section in the entire book to me. I appreciate what the author was trying to do and it definitely made me think about things. It was super emotional but could’ve been executed better overall.

A heartbreaking and poignant read that reminds us not to take a loved one for granted. The second person voice was at times a little tough to follow, but I adjusted. Beautiful novel
this book was a real labour of love. my thoughts might change as it marinates on me, but i don’t really see that happening. i love second person, my favourite perspective hands down, but i really struggled with keeping focused and engaged with this. sure i think the musings are fundamentally important to reckon with as a daughter, a mother, a husband, etc.
still think it felt like a bunch of self absorbed siblings finally having to look outside of themselves and have very early-adulthood realisations in their thirties to fifties.
