This was a pretty good mystery, true to its genre. The twist at the end wasn't one I saw coming, which is good. Some of the elements of the book were a bit cliched, and the main character's views of the world were a bit limited, so it made him hard to like at times, but that didn't keep me from finishing the book.

A 3.75 for me.

I was in the mood for a thriller, so I picked this one off my shelf. It hit all the right spots for me. The mystery was intriguing enough to make it a page turner. The main cast was full of very interesting and well written characters. I was able to predict some twists but not all of them. And the end had plenty of resolution and tied all the main plot lines up.

If you're looking for a quick thriller read with pretty decent writing and a lot of twists, you'll be satisfied with this one.

Spoilers ahead!!!

So a few other things to discuss. I held back on giving this 5 stars because by the end, things are twisting so much that it starts to not make a ton of sense. I think if I read it again, the final twist would make a lot of plot holes show up, and besides that the twists were what made me interested. A second go around wouldn't have nearly as much impact.

But a big saving grace for the novel was how good so many of the characters were. Beck was an alright main character. People like Tyrese, Wu and Shauna stole the show though.

It was interesting that the main cast were all tied so strongly to just one or two key events that set the whole plot in motion. I haven't decided yet if I think it would've been better otherwise.

And finally, the author really surprised me with two bits that were honestly outstanding. The first was the section were Wu describes the death of his mother. The second was Griffin Scope's big segment on the love for his deceased son. There were more parts sprinkled throughout, but those two moments were excellent.

This book is worth the time. Give it a shot.

First Harlen Coben book, out of the many I have read, that I did not enjoy. The ending was a let down.

3.5⭐️, rounded up

This book was a good thriller and I found it hard to put down. The plot is quite intricate with multiple twists. Well-plotted action with likeable characters makes this an easy but interesting read. Mostly told in first-person, the novel relates the aftermath of a husband's life eight years after the murder of his wife when the neatly devised solution begins to fall apart. I have not read any material by Harlen Cohen prior to Tell No One. With that being said, this book was fantastic. It is full of suspenseful twists and turns. The plot was well organized with great writing. David Beck is a character who brings the book to life. The end had a nice twist which neatly wrapped up the various subplots. Coben slams the story with believable characters and a plot that speaks to everyone who enjoys a good thriller.

This book kept me turning pages, though it definitely has its contrived, Deus ex machina moments and saccharine, overdramatic dialogue. I tend to give this type of mystery/thriller type of book major lenience when it comes to the corny factor, because to me that's almost a specific ingredient of the genre, but if that type of thing annoys you, this probably isn't a good read for you.

This is another story of a common person trying to solve the crime. The redeeming factor is that the FB I agents aren't completely idiotic. The other aspect that makes it harder to suspend disbelief is that money is involved. I suppose if you be enough money you could pull out all off, but I prefer my naivete.

3.5 stars. I struggled to get into this one for some reason. I was poorly with Covid so my concentration levels weren’t very high. Just didn’t connect with the characters as much as I usually would. It’s worth a read just not one of my favourite HC stories. Loads of the usual twists and decent ending.
