The tale is fantastic, but the sexism is disappointing.

This is the Narnia book that I've read most frequently (hi, sixth grade Battle of the Books), and, aside from being an extremely heavy-handed religious allegory, the story's fine. A kid probably wouldn't even pick up on the hamhanded parallels to Christian mythology unless they had it explained to them, and the rest of it (talking animals! battles! Jesus!Lions!) is fun and entertaining. Overall, a decent fantasy book for kids with some mild old-timey sexism and hints of imperialism thrown in (hi, late 1940s).

A timeless classic, one of Lewis' best.

Something that stood out to me this time, was how Digory used Lewis' "Liar, Lunatic, or Lord" argument when told the story of Lucy finding Narnia in the wardrobe. He asks the siblings if Lucy is generally the more truthful one over Edmund, he then breaks down the story of the wardrobe and deduces that the story makes too much logical sense for a madman to conjure up, therefore, unless any other evidence prove otherwise, it's likely Lucy is telling the truth.

It's fascinating seeing Lewis apply his apologetics to his fiction, his storytelling is wonderful on it's own, but it adds another layer of depth knowing that a lot of the philosophical language and thematic material contained in his fiction, is expanded upon in his lectures, and non-fiction.

This is my favorite of the series.

An interesting story, which does some too rushed jumps in logic and flow.

Aimed for kids so that should excuse quite some of the lacking of consistency in story telling.
