Reading this made me consider how much of the original story might have been lost in translation by the English translator. At times the plot consisted of a recount of the means of transportation from one place to another and the main geographical features along the way. The central character was very restrained in his emotions which is at odds with most stories today. In the end I didn't hide this book but it wasn't a page turner.
its so exiting book and full of adventures i also watched the movie its a little bit different but it was also so good, not as the book i enjoyed reading it

Surprised by how much I enjoyed it! Some of the geography details I think I skimmed over as didnt have the background knowledge but the characters were very funny in a way that made me laugh out loud a few times and even though I saw the twist at the end coming I was still surprised. Well written and easy to read

The prose isn't near enjoyable enough to get past the racism nor the imperialist's wet dream of a plot. Passepartout and Fogg had moments where their personalities shined, but it was inescapable that much of the plot was thank god the British tamed all these savage lands, but, uh oh, they haven't tamed this part yet, so we will inevitably come across some uneducated freaks, but oh my goodness one of those freaks has white skin and speaks English, I think I'll marry that one.
