FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

I have to say that I have enjoyed pretty much everything by this author to some degree, so I was beyond excited to settle in to read this story! It was a fast-paced read, but a very well written one!

My chief complaint about it was that everything felt rushed in the story. There's very little background on Billy or Shayna's pasts, so we're forced to take them as they are. They fall for each other very quickly, but fight the attraction because they're not "supposed to" like each other. It fell a little like the insta-love trope, but with a few twists, which turned a hated trope for me into an enjoyable read.

That being said, I really loved Shayna! I thought she was a great character overall, very intriguing and engaging, as well as being very easy to connect with! I thought Billy was a good match for her romantically, and did enjoy watching them navigate their way to each other.

All things considered, this was a quick, easy, and engaging read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

This book was so amazing. Strong men can be vulnerable too. They also feel pain different in the form of physical pain. The end is sweet though. It was great to see our fun loving guy from Fighting for Everything find his own happy ending.

Series: Warrior Fight Club #2
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

Former Army Ranger turned private investigator, Bill Parrish, lives for fighting, investigating, and sex. He doesn't realize how lonely and lifeless his life is until he agrees to house his best friend's sister for a few months while she starts a new job. The more time he spends with her though the more he wants her, but he knows he can’t have her.

This was a very emotional book. Billy struggles with survivors guilt and keeps everyone at a distance. The only peace he finds is when he is fighting during Warrior Fight Club. He quickly realizes that he finds peace when he is hanging out with Shayna too but he feels he doesn’t deserve her. His mental and emotional struggle was heartbreaking and made me just want to hug him.

Shayna was a wonderful heroine who I wish could be my friend. She was kind, sweet, a great photographer, and had a hilarious and creative use of insults. She was quite perfect for Billy because she could easily handle his mood swings and help him through the tough times.

This was an emotional book that I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend Laura Kaye if you are looking for contemporary romances with veterans that are very emotional and addicting.

Trigger Warnings: PTSD, depression, suicidal thoughts, drug overdose mentioned

Best friend's little sister is not my favorite trope. In fact, I hate it. Had this been some other author I would have passed on it but I love Kaye's books and while "her brother will kill me" did play a part in Billy's reluctance to be with Shayna there were much bigger issues at play here.
Billy is a member of Warrior Fight Club. He'd given Noah some advice about dealing with his issues that he only now realizing he never actually took himself. Agreeing to letting Shayna stay with him for a couple months while she finds a place in DC brings this out. He's more than OCD about things and another person in his space is challenging. Shayna herself is challenging. He wants her but has the usual "i'm too broken for this bright young spark" thoughts. He has survivor guilt and is badly scarred from his injuries.
Shayna is also struggling with guilt for her brother's death. He was killed 2 years ago by a drunk driver after coming to rescue Shayna from a situation he warned her about. His fiancee blames Shayna & told her so to her face. She assumes everyone feels that way and has mostly cut herself off from her family as a result. She's had a crush on Billy for years but knows he isn't interested. Until he his.
They both struggle with Billy's attraction to her and his pulling her in & then pushing her away. Having sex with her and then wanting to just be friends. Eventually she has enough and firmly friendzones him just as he is ready to give a relationship a try. Drama ensues for various reasons.
Good book. Looking forward to the next one.

Love this series and anything Laura Kaye puts out.

Shay and Billy were a matched made in combustible chemistry that I was living for since page one.

They're two broken souls finding a safe space in one another

My only issue was the "neat" ending. I felt like it was too rushed and maybe could have been drawn out a little bit.

Loving the Warrior Fight Club series.

Billy and Shayna both carry around their guilt and blame themselves for things that they had no control. Perhaps, kindred spirits that see their self in each other. Billy doesn’t want to burden Shayna with all of his issues, but what happens when she moves on and he almost loses her? I love how Billy and Shayna both admit how they feel for each other and discuss the issues from their past.

Sometimes you just need to right person to talk to and it will make you whole again.

ARC was received from the author for an honest review.

I am absolutely loving this series!

Fighting for What’s His is Billy Parrish’s story.

Billy was caught in a trap while overseas and suffered second and third-degree burns to a good portion of his body. He suffers badly from survivor’s guilt and The Warrior Fight Club is his saving grace.

When his best friend from the Army Rangers asks him for a favour he never thought it would be to give his kid sister a place to love while she settles in DC. But when Shayna arrives, she’s not just a kid sister anymore. She’s a beautiful twenty-six year old woman.

His eyes were dark fire as they bore into hers. “You’re just starting out in life. Everything ahead of you, full of possibilities. But me…I’m a busted, used-up soldier without an army or a war. And I’m supposed to be looking out for you, not taking advantage of you.”

Shayna always had a crush on Billy Parrish growing up. She didn’t see him often but when she did she couldn’t get enough of him. Now, she finds herself living with him and the chemistry between them is out of this world.

This story takes you on the journey of these two amazing characters trying to find themselves and their belief in themselves.

I loved the action scene that happens towards the end and I loved Shayna’s character. She cracked me up.

The only thing I feel was left unresolved was Billy finding what he wanted to do. A few times there’s a reminder that he’s not happy with what he’s doing as a career and I would’ve liked to see him find his niche.

Other than that I loved this story! I can’t wait to read the next one!

This author has a really good idea and some very funny jokes but epically fails at ending the last 20-45 mins are by the the worst of the whole book and it’s like this throughout the series. I absolutely love happily ever afters, the cheesier the better, but the ending just fail to give a realistic ending to a great story. A cringe worthy, bad porn like sex scene is not a good way to end a love story, however it is a good way to start a love vs. sex rants for 20 mins.
