The idea behind this book was quite intriguing and I really wanted to love it, but the concept fell flat. The ending felt unearned-- a group of adults wandered around and were mean to one another until they all had the same epiphany at once.
I would have liked more depth or a more dramatic set of events.

This was so promising. The premise sounded wonderful, but the story was lacking something. I felt it ended abruptly with really no closure.

Very blah. It did nothing for me.

In Twenty Years is the story of 6 people who shared a house in college. In their senior year Bea makes them write where they think they will be in twenty years so she can make a time capsule. Bea makes each of them promise to remain lifelong friends. Several years later Bea dies from cancer. The remaining 5 receive a letter from Bea's lawyer asking them to meet at the house they shared for the July 4th weekend, which would have been Bea's 40th Birthday. The weekend has the group looking at the past, reconciling their differences, seeing where they are in their lives, and where they are headed. I found the characters interesting and their stories believable.

On a random meeting on Twitter, I learned about Allison Winn Scotch and figured I would see what her writing was all about. This was the first book I read of hers and I think I picked a great one. The message of family wherever you are is so beautiful. Definitely would recommend to everyone who enjoys a good novel.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

I've read several of Allison Winn Scotch novels and have enjoyed them all. In Twenty Years takes us inside the dynamics of six college students and their diverse, six-star friendship (two male, four female.)

Bea, one of the six points of the star, passed away years ago and left one request-- that her five friends gather at their old college rental home over the 4th of July on what would have been Bea's 40th birthday... and open letter's they'd written back in college to their "older self." Oh boy, can't we all relate to the realization that our life rarely turns out how we imagined at twenty!

There are many "successful" stories in their group, but we soon realize they come with a price. As their get-together unfolds it is filled with regrets, lies, wishes, and a lot of soul-searching. All with a message (to me anyway) that few understand us as well as our old friends. A great read!

A six point star - that's what a group of 6 Penn studnets considered themselves in 1998. As their Senior year comes to an end and they all prepare to head out into real life, their fearless leader, Bea, insists they make a time capsule and promise to return in 20 years to see where life has lead them. She makes them all promise that nothing will change and their friendship will endure.

Fast forward 18 years. Bea doesn't make it and her loss haunts them all. They all get a FedEx package from her attorney saying her will had requested they all meet at the house the lived in together at Penn on the eve of her 40th birthday (4th of July weekend). Through various chapters we get to know Owen & Catherine (who were college sweethearts and are now married), Annie (a once professional who is now a SAHM with a wandering hubby), Colin (a plastic surgeon on whom Annie pined over for years) and Lindy (the brash outspoken roommate who is now a music superstar).

We learn how their lives have been since college. The loves and losses. The hopes and dreams. Infidilities. Babies. Careers. Thoughts of Bea intermingled through it all.

Really liked this book. Although found hte ending did not resolve everything I had hoped it would. I'm hoping that means a sequel!

Thank you Netgalley & Lake House Publishing for my ARC copy. It was my pleasure to read it and give you my honest review.

Cute, easy book. I would have liked to have seen an epilogue at the end just for my own interest to see how everyone ended up. I still enjoyed the book and think it's perfect for a nice summer read.

These characters are THE WORST! I love Allison Winn Scotch books but this one has no redeemable characters. They were all so flawed, they had no good qualities to them.
