So sweet and empowering!

I really loved Roni Loren's first book in this series, so I was thrilled to get my hands on this one. The disability and mental health rep is fantastic/realistic/respectful, and the chemistry and banter between Hill and Andi are so perfectly done. I love her true crime podcast and how she focuses on how we can learn from other tragedies. I especially love that the heavy aspects handled (listed in TWs below) are handled with a focus on consent, healing, and patient growth.

The only thing that I didn't love is the horror movie side story, but that's just my cowardly side not being familiar with all the scary movies referenced. It did work well with the plot, so it was just heaped on there for no purpose.

I can't wait for the next one in this series!

*Audiobook note: I listened along while I read, thanks to LibroFM, and absolutely loved the narrator. I was totally spellbound in the story!

TW: depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, violence

Thanks Sourcebooks Casa for the advanced read, and LibroFM for the advanced listen!

While I really enjoyed this book, there were frequent moments where the conversation with descriptions felt too cliché to the point where it felt disingenuous. I really liked the character backgrounds and depth, but the dialogue felt very textbook or surface level in many parts and I don’t remember noticing that in the previous book.

Loved it! I really enjoy this series. As a horror fan I think this one is my favorite so far. It was hot AND scary, rare find. I read it so quickly - just over the course of a few hours - that I was almost upset to see the word “epilogue”. Glad to know there’s another. Good taste in movies as well! I liked the “syllabus” Andi put together for Hill.

Hill sounded like such a dream but I did get a bit annoyed when he kept referring to himself as so old (31 lol) and Andi as so young. Thirty-one is ALSO very young, hard to see when you’re that age but when you’ve past it you realize how young 31 actually is. Such a pet peeve of mine! As someone who never wants to be on camera I’d probably have left Andi at the constant insistence of recording and publishing ANYTHING but I guess the story would have progressed differently if she didn’t.

Check content warnings before reading, lots of talk of trauma.

This book was provided for free by the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!

I LOVED the first 100 pages of the book, they definitely deserve five stars;; but then... when the relationship between Hill and Andi started, everything changed and sadly i did not like the rest of the book
So it isn't for me, but it's well-written and I understand the numbers of very good reviews

Andi Lockley's anxiety wants her to believe that she has to constantly watch her back. Ever since she barely escaped a murderous man back when she was younger, every relationship since has given her fear. As things start to get better as she settles into adulthood ―she's channeling everything into her career as an author and true crime podcaster, and her next book may be the breakthrough she needs. Except her neighbor's stomping won't stop keeping her up at night to finish it.

Hill Dawson, a former firefighter, can't sleep. After losing part of his leg in a fire gone wrong, he's now stuck in limbo with what he wants to do for the rest of his life. When someone breaks into Andi's place, Hill can't stop himself from rushing in to play the hero. Before he knows it, a bond forms between the unlikely pair. But what starts out as a neighborly harmless exchange, quickly turns into the chance for so much more. That is only if Andi can learn to put aside her fears and trust in herself and love again.

Roni Loren is quickly becoming an instant read author for me. This was my second book and I loved it. There is some definite spice which is always welcomed but the plots of her stories are always so relatable. I loved this one so much because I personally struggle with anxiety from things I have dealt with in my past. I can relate to Andi on so many levels and the fear aspect of letting the past try to not dictate the future.

Skipped over many parts. All the focus was in the wrong parts. Could’ve been a good book, but the author ruined it.

Another win by Roni Loren! She has quickly become an auto-buy romance writer for me - not only are her stories steamy with highly relatable characters, she also tackles important mental health issues. This story features Andi, a true crime podcaster and horror writer with anxiety and her hot neighbor, Hale, an ex-firefighter with an amputated leg and a passion for cooking. Together the two bond over classic horror movies and work through their respective traumas and sexual insecurities. I can't emphasize enough how refreshing it is to read about characters dealing with real life issues. Both Hale and Andi go to therapy to work on their issues (anxiety and depression) and are gentle with one another's emotional roadblocks to love. Their journey to a happily ever after was the perfect listen on this hot summer day. Thanks to NetGalley, Libro.fm and Dreamscape media for my advance listening copy of this great new book, excellently narrated by Desiree Ketchum. I cannot recommend this one more, especially for fans of Float plan, Seven days in June or Life's too short. This is a standalone book but is set in the same world as Yes & I love you.

Favorite quotes:
"Life's too short not to do the things that make us happy."

"Finding things, even little things, that gave me joy, helped me build up my energy again so that I could tackle bigger things."

"Both of them had issues they were working through in therapy...but the difference was that they were a team now. They didn't have to fight those battles alone. Love meant someone had your back. Love meant you didn't have to hide what you were struggling with. Love taught you that sometimes it was okay to not be okay."
