I really wanted to like this book, especially after devouring Burying Water, but I was really frustrated at the end. I didn't buy into the 'falling in love in a week' romance, and was really confused at the end about whether or not they actually have a HEA. I also didn't understand where Amber was getting all this money to travel between Portland and Ireland once a month, especially after using all her savings on her trip around the world.

Loved that this took you out of Oregon and was set in Ireland. Loved that Amber went out of her comfort zone and set on a journey on self discovery. Great addition to the series.

I can't lie. Every time I head into another K.A. Tucker book I worry that this will be the one. This might be the book that I don't like; Because she can't possibly keep writing amazing book after amazing book, right? Well, if that's the case, this is NOT that book. In fact, this might be my favorite K.A. book to date!!

I loved the fact that this was set in Ireland. When I read that this book was going to deal with the IRA, who admittedly I don't know a lot about, but still know it can be a tough subject to tackle, I was a bit nervous. I have to say that it was really what made this story such a stand-out and I think I learned a lot about the history of Ireland because of it. If nothing else it's piqued my interest in learning more.

I'm so in love with River and I would absolutely give chase to him in real life! He was fiercely loyal, honest when it was most important and when he spoke of his Irish heritage I got goosebumps. The way he protected his brother, is ma and da and Amber, and even the way he tried to protect Aengus, truly showed what a great guy he was. The hot accent didn't hurt.

Amber is the type of girl I wish that I could be. She followed her dreams of traveling and experiencing the world, and she did it completely alone. I wish I could be that brave. She was forgiving when she had every right not to be, but she was apologetic for things she had done to Ivy in high school. She's just an all around good person. Forced to try to choose between doing the right thing, as she's always been taught, and what feels right for her, she knows nothing about her life will ever be the same.

The secondary characters in the story were so well placed at the perfect moments with just enough to keep the story flowing and familiar but not so much that their presence felt forced. Ivy was just the friend Amber needed in Ireland and watching her and Amber bury the hatchet was hopeful. Sheriff Gabe's reprisal was sweet and special because he's such a great dad, navigating the gray areas of life with a precision like nobody else. Even Detective Duffy played a vital role in their story.

With no unnecessary drama, no declarations of love being thrown around and no misunderstandings keeping River and Amber apart, this book held up on the pure magic of brilliant storytelling alone. I see myself re-reading this book often.

Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1427988006s/23522253.jpg|43125350] is the third book of the Burying Water series and also, my first [a:K.A. Tucker|4866520|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1351111292p2/4866520.jpg] novel--which, once again, goes against my habit of reading a series in order despite the idea of standalones. This book is one of the best books I've read in 2015 and I am just in awe of how wonderful this novel is.

The heroine, Amber Welles, has already been introduced in the first novel ([b:Burying Water|18687114|Burying Water (Burying Water, #1)|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1406232747s/18687114.jpg|26530138]) and this time around, she's on a three month adventure around Europe, however, her first day in Ireland isn't just a walk in the park (pun intended) when she almost gets hurt but is saved by an unknown Irish man, who then flees the scene.
"He ran. Innocent people don't run."
Her knight in shining armor, River Delaney, has wronged the law in his younger years, but despite that, he's a good man and a family man indeed. He works for his parents at the family pub of centuries, alongside with his brothers, and if he hadn't followed his no-gooder older brother to the park, the oblivious American tourist would have gotten hurt, or worse, killed.

The characters were written in a realistic manner; Amber is a young girl fresh out of a break up, thus, a few months on solo would be a good way to heal and find herself as she arms herself with a tourist to-do list during her trips. Always the good girl with a caring heart, it's time Amber cares for her own self, even if it means to go against her judgment--being the sherriff's daughter and all. River, on the other hand, is one of the most amazing heroes I've ever read. A good man with an incredible heart, he will do anything to keep his loved ones safe, even if it means cutting ties with someone important to him. Can I say, swoon? Indeed, his wrongful past makes him mysteriously sexy.
"So...Where'd you meet this guy?"
"At the park one day. He kind of...ran into me."
"Sounds romantic."
"It was, in a way." If pipe bombs could be called romantic.
There are many things I adored in this novel. [b:Chasing River|23522253|Chasing River (Burying Water, #3)|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1427988006s/23522253.jpg|43125350] is told in altenating POVs between Amber and River, and my god, I enjoyed River's the most. [a:K.A. Tucker|4866520|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1351111292p2/4866520.jpg]'s spot on portrayal of this Irish man was amazing. The author took importance of tone, accent and dialect in River's speech, alongside with the other Irish characters that were introduced.

Reading [b:Chasing River|23522253|Chasing River (Burying Water, #3)|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1427988006s/23522253.jpg|43125350] satisfied the tourist in me, and it's apparent that [a:Tucker|4866520|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1351111292p2/4866520.jpg] did her research because even though world building isn't a major requirement in contemporary novels, I felt as if I was really in Ireland. Not only were her descriptions on point, this book was also in tune with the history of Ireland, particularly, the IRA which I know very little about.

Speaking of romance, Amber and River's romantic development bloomed in a way that I wasn't expecting. Sure, it had the makings of an instalove novel, with its short time span and the fast pacing, but [a:Tucker|4866520|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1351111292p2/4866520.jpg] wrote the perfect balance between sweet and steamy which provided for a delicious romance with an emotional punch.
“You’ll never be good enough for my daughter.”
“But I’ll never stop trying to be.”
[b:Chasing River|23522253|Chasing River (Burying Water, #3)|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1427988006s/23522253.jpg|43125350] is a beautifully written romantic suspense--it had the perfect balance of tension in terms of action, romance and suspense. Every turn of a page is a thrill and is worth the read. I may have ventured into [a:Tucker|4866520|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1351111292p2/4866520.jpg]'s works without a single clue of her writing style, but now, she's earned a fan in me.

I highly recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense; [b:Chasing River|23522253|Chasing River (Burying Water, #3)|K.A. Tucker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1427988006s/23522253.jpg|43125350] is not something you would want to miss out on.

K.A. Tucker never fails at pulling me into a story.  I'm so happy that we got Amber's story, and that it takes place in Ireland.

I really appreciated Tucker's note in the beginning about the unrest in Ireland.  It's something I never knew about, and helped for a bigger understanding of the story.  I felt like I was transported to Dublin, and like I was a part of the group.  We even get a little bit of Ivy in Chasing River.  I didn't think she would ever form a friendship with Amber, but I think they come to a definite understanding of each other.

I like that Amber's boundaries are pushed in this book.  She has to come to terms with emotions she's feeling and that she doesn't know how to deal with.  She's definitely not a fly by the seat of her pants type of gal, but she finds herself in that situation while traveling around Ireland, and meeting River.  River is definitely swoon-worthy, and he has secrets that he's pretty ashamed of.  He doesn't want Amber to know about his past, and he's infatuated with her.  I love his references to her list throughout the book even though he won't admit that he has it.  Watching these two characters react to each other is pretty funny.  River gets crap from his brother about his feelings, and Amber feels like she has nobody to talk to about hers.

River's secret could tear the apart, especially with Amber's views on what is right and wrong.  She finds out a few things about her family that completely rock her world, and she realizes there's a gray area.  I appreciate how she reacted to that bit, and how she struggles to find a balance in this new revelation. (If you've read the previous books, this is something that happens in Burying Water.)

Overall I loved this book, and didn't want it to end.  River definitely has a soft side, and shows that actions are more important words in the grand scheme of life.

3.5 stars. The story was good, but I feel like it started off slow. I liked all the characters esp Ivy and Rowan. The romance was good but it felt a little rushed. It’s the third in a series but the first I read. Maybe I would have liked it I read the other ones first

I would say to this was my least favourite of all of the books so far. I still enjoyed it, but I found it to be very surface level.

MLD Extreme Book Nerd Challenge #27/50: Read a book with an action verb in the title

I enjoy all of Tucker’s books, and this novel was no different. It was entertaining, it was enjoyable, and it had a unique different plot device that I haven’t seen before. I am getting old, and with that my romance tastes are changing, and this one was a *bit* too much insta-love for me, but it was good for the story.
