A witch walks into the bar bathroom and says to the vampire...

It sounds like a setup to a joke, but really its this laugh out loud adorable story about Emma your adorable neighborhood witch and Alaric your typical brooding vampire duke. The real star of the show might be Penelope, our absolute queen of a familiar.

Emma has to plan a ball to get into the good graces of the Coven, since she hasn't really found a knack for charming goats or her magic. Unfortunately for her the key to success is charming the very un-charming Duke. Turns out she isn't the only one in need of a favor since like all Dukes the time is counting down for him to get married... To keep the pressure at bay he needs a little witchy help. The banter and conflicts are real and natural even in the supernatural setting and it is totally a must read feel good book for spooky season!

Emma is a clumsy witch, and she has such a great personality. I love her unfiltered thoughts. She has a penchant for sticking her foot in her mouth.

Alaric The Duke is desperate, rude, and hot. He seems To have gotten into a predicament with his grandmother and now needs Emma's help. He proposes a fake relationship.

Emma's luck seems awful, and she is a very novice witch. The things that happen to her are almost funny in their absurdity, but could it be someone trying to ruin things for her?

Penelope the skunk is the best part of this story. I love her aggressive attitude and expensive tastes. This book gets a little N/A Steamy; it is adventurous but needs to be better described.

Sweet and perfect Alaric makes you swoon with his grand gesture and confession of love. I love that Emma found precisely what she wanted, albeit in unconventional ways; it works out.

Overall, this was a sweet read and a great story to delve into for that seasonal ghost and witchcraft, but with just enough romance to make you swoon. This was a happy read, with many moments that make you smile in the story. The book is a paranormal romance, but it is about finding your true family, connecting with your past and future, and, of course, all the witchy things. This was a great read, and I recommend it if you are looking for a feel-good witchy romance.

okay so. the mmc wasn’t a vampire aside from the fact that the author decided to call him one.
the fake dating trope made no sense in this story and just seemed to be thrown in for the sake of having the trope. and the third act breakup was STUPID to me like……..
the premise of this was very interesting but i am so disappointed with this one :/

I read the first book in this series, which I enjoyed. When I saw book 2 in the series was available, I figured why not. I read it quite quickly and enjoyed some aspects of this story, but ultimately, this just wasn"t for me.

I had so many issues with this book, starting with the pacing issues in the beginning. I felt like i was verbally tripping over thoughts and conversations. It was hard to follow at times. Another issue i had was the book is titled "how to Fake Date a Vampire," but honestly, there were little to no indications that Alaric was a vampire. Yes, he drank blood, but other than that, there was nothing else that distinguished him as such. Finally, I read the first book in the series and this book feels like it followed the exact same formula as that one. Nothing seemed new or refreshing - it was very predictable. I wish I could have rated it higher.
