This book hit me hard. The way it conveys anxious spiraling and existential angst so closely mirrors the way my own brain works, and it sucked me down with it. Needless to say, this book was not great for my mental health. But at the same time, it was so validating. This is all on top of having an engrossing plot, charming characters, and a wry sense of humor. I loved it. I wish the final part was a bit longer, but I don’t mind the way it wrapped up. I just wish I could stay in Gilda’s brain for a bit longer. Highly recommend.
This book resonated with my type of depression and anxiety and I really related with the main character. It’s depressing, heartbreaking, but also uplifting in a weird way. Loved the ending, though I wish it would have been more apparent that she had gotten mental health treatment. In my experience, you don’t just wake up one day and suddenly everything is normal again.

Interesting insight to anxiety and depression. I definitely saw glimpses of my best friend in Gilda. I’m not sure what I expected from this story, but it was an easy read, but also dull. By the end of the novel I didn’t feel like I got a deeper understanding or connection with the Gilda.

I received an ARC of this book and absolutely blew through it in a day (started reading a couple of pages on the 12th, but then sat down this morning on the 14th to read and finished it by the end of the day). It’s a very easy read - though the subject matter isn’t easy. As someone who also has anxiety and ruminates about death far too often, parts of this book hit me Right In The Feels, particularly when Gilda would go into her self-destructive thought spirals despite wanting so desperately to think of anything else.
It’s good. I liked it quite a bit, though it does make me wonder what the hell is going on in Canada that you can’t seem to see a psychiatrist despite multiple referrals. This poor girl, man....I just wanted to pull up Psychology Today and march her straight into someone’s office.

I did like the book and the main character and her anxious, weird thoughts, and I liked getting to know her, but it felt like the plot was pointless, there was so much left unsaid

A quick and easy read. Parts were quite endearing, but I found Gilda quite exhausting at times, and some of her reactions felt too strange to be realistic.
