My final thought on this novel:

Eh.

And while I say that in the nicest way possible, I have to admit that I've had quite enough of this. You hear it all the time, "Oh, EVERMORE was just FANTASTIC..." yada yada yada. But you know what? That's TRUE. I sped right through EVERMORE and BLUE MOON, because at least there was some sort of core in those novels, but when it came to SHADOWLAND I found myself needing to take a break just to get away from that book. And, sadly enough, DARK FLAME wasn't much different.

I mean--COME ON. There were SO many different directions that this novel could have taken, and the one that Alyson Noel chose was just...not a good one. How long do you need to stretch this conflict out? If that's honestly what the series is going to be centered around, I really don't know if I'll be willing to pick up another one of these books again.

Ever is once again proving how dim-witted and impulsive she is, which to be honest, sort of contradicts the first novel. I mean, I'm totally into character development and all, but this is just a tragic excuse to keep the plot going and going and going. And I'm sorry, but I have a feeling that we're all getting sick of it.

I will say that while it bored me to pieces at some parts, other times I couldn't put it down. But that was only because I wanted to see where in the world she was going with this plot (which is nowhere). Sadly, DARK FLAME just didn't do it for me. I added a star because I was so hopeful, so looking forward to seeing them get out of that rut--or at least SOME plot development. But no. Nothing happened except for at the end, and then that REALLY just made me want to throw my book at the wall and roll my eyes and walk away.

I would recommend reading this book ONLY if you've just finished reading the series and want to continue on. Otherwise, just forget about it. Please. Whatever you can think of that happens will without a doubt be better than what actually happened. It's sad to see, because this series had so much promise. Maybe next time?

Really enjoying this series! Review can be found on here: http://theyabooknook.blogspot.com/2011/04/dark-flame-by-alyson-noel.html

I won't throw out any spoilers, but I will say that while I really enjoyed this book due to the eagerness of wanting more, Ever completely pissed me off with her childish behavior. I am really hoping that in Night Star, her character will be more likable.

Ever is starting to get really annoying - for me anyway. However, I can see why these books still appeal to teenage girls. Overall, not horrible and there were times Ever redeems herself.

Another 4 stars, this time for the forth book in this series. In this book Ever struggles to explain the rules of the immortal world to Haven, but she's far from even acknowledging the bad parts. Haven does what she wants and she isn't bothered by Ever's warnings about Roman. Over and over Ever tries to get the antidote from Roman, until it goes completely haywire when she binds herself to him and it results in the urge to be with him, because she performed the spell when there was a dark moon. 2 attempts later, the spell has still not been lifted and Roman almost convinces her to go all the way. Now all Ever has to do is ban the negativity building up inside, and maybe then she can convince Roman to hand over the antidote. Jude, however, gets in the way, again. But this time he doesn't stand between Ever and Damen but between what Ever wants from Roman to be with Damen. ( completely mindf*cked)

Right, the reason for the 4 stars is practically the same reason as for the previous book. Ever still makes big, terrible choices and she still doesn't think. And Damen is too good for her, forgiving her after everything she has done and still loving her that unconditionally. And than Jude turns out to mess things up and Roman turns out to be not so bad as everyone thought he was, with his troubled childhood and things.

Besides the lack of Ever ever thinking or any good character development, the writing was still good. I enjoy reading this series, because it's such a quick read. No weird constructed sentences or that kind of thing. And I really hope that the next, and fifth book, in this series will bring some more character development and THINKING EVER! Besides, I think it's going to be pretty badass, with Haven all evil and mourning and crazy and thinking Ever killed Roman and stuff.

Ugh... Just ugh.

Wow. What an ending!

not bad......

fine, ever isn't as stupid as i thought, she got a BIT better at the end

but now i feel bad for Roman : (

I hope Ever doesn't revert to her completely idiotic ways in the next book

This series started out good. But went down hill fast. It was making me mad, uncomfortable, and kinda gave me a little bit of anxiety. I will not be continuing
